How about the fact that it's practically impossible to score enough points during the actual game to make up for what you get by catching the Snitch the end? I actually played this recently with my siblings because I wanted to see if it really was as irredeemably shitty as I remembered it to be, and it was.

Might as well jerk off for 10 minutes while you wait for the Snitch to spawn because nothing you do during the actual match affects the outcome at all unless you score 16 goals and your opponent scores none. Literally not a possibility during multiplayer and only possible against the CPUs because their AI is just that bad.

Ignoring the fact that I hate Harry Potter, mechanics-wise this is the worst game I've ever played that wasn't a bottom of the barrel Atari game.

Well first you could make the houses into factions and make "lessons"" juat timed events for extra exp, ability oe whatever gain.
Levels could be divided into grades
1-10 is 1st grade
11-20 2nd grade
and so on
Thete could be character classes who specialise in different schools of magic and potion brewing

The school grounds, the woods, the catacombs and other places could be dungeons and/or part of the open world. Teachers and famous characters are bosses, NPCs and quest givers.
Wands, robes, scarves and hats are equip. Brooms are mounts.
All the wierd monsters are the mobs as well as voldemort's evil servants.
Spells are abilities that can be buffs, offensive, defensive or utility.

Some clever heads could pump out even more ideas and make a full MMO concept in less than a few hours. Everything is there, especially with the new movies around the corners introducting more places, NPCd, spells mobs/bosses etc.

I think the decline of licensed movie games is tied to how much money is put into the games industry now. Old movie games had very little quality control and people could put out very shitty products and nobody would bat an eye. They still can but now they have to wrap it up in realistic graphics so the only people who buy that shit don't notice it sucks.

Instead they take the cheaper and potentially more profitable route of making mobile games and retextured Candy Crush shit.
