how much is too much for vidya headphones?
>>
Any amount. Just get a normal pair of headphones with a detachable cable and get a replacement cable with an inline mic.
>>
>>386467671
It's about $200 too much for vidya headphones. I'd expect that price from a speaker set. You shouldn't be paying more than 50 for a good set of head phones.
>>
>>386467909
apparently the ones in OP are really comfortable, my current headphones press really hard agaisnt the frames of my glasses and hurt my head after 20 minutes. don't care about it having a microphone, I'm sure that adds $100 to the price
>>
Gotta pay for gayman gear for those extra reaction times.
Or something. Gaming gear is like women's fashion

Depends. If you pre-order headsets or pledge for one of its crowdfunded it usually matches the price. Of course you only got one ear, the other ear being a DLC. Why would you need the other anyway? We only get half the game we pay for now a days.

Not even far on the deep end audiophiles believe this, when mentally ill people don't agree with it you just know it's beyond help.

Don't buy a headset. If you have to have a mic, get an actual microphone and a decent pair of phones.

For gamershit, don't pay more than $100.

For actual, good headphones from real audio companies, you can invest a little bit. $300 is generally considered to be the point of diminishing returns, with the Sennheiser HD 600/650 or a competitor in that bracket being the level you stop at if you are sane.
>>
>>386468801
Superlux 665s. Look up the easy peasy mod guide in the first or second link in google. Don't use toilet paper like some moron, rather correct the sound via EQ. Equalizer APO + Peace is best.
These sound satisfyingly powerful in a V shape.

>>
>>386469469
Why? The buid quality is probably great but there's no reason for them to sound better. We have much better amps and DACs nowadays.
>>
Is there even a such thing as "digital audio"? It's analog when it comes out of the speaker, isn't it? I understand the convenience of the actual signal being digital, but it doesn't actually improve the audio quality over analog, right?
>>
>>386469449
Second hand from my dad, same ones he used in the 80s

Electronics aren't really known for their longevity though
>>

That's why the same model with little to no tweaks are still being sold 30 years later. Koss Portapro and Sony MDR7 are the absolute standard when it comes to headphones under 80 dollars.

>not pretending to be a famous youtuber to get shit sent to you for free
>>
>>386469604
The digital vs analog debate is about storage. Most people use cone speakers, so the signal has to be analog. Even USB headsets have an integrated DAC.
>>
>purchased astro a40's with amp for 299.99
>love the fuck out of them

Why you so poor, /v/?
>>
>>386469604
All digital audio is converted to analog when it's actually played, yeah. How it's converted does play a somewhat significant role in sound quality though. One of the easiest upgrades you can make for your setup is getting an external DAC to get the audio out of your PC. Not necessary if you don't notice issues, but a lot of onboard audio is noisy.

Another "digital audio" benefit is stuff like Dolby Headphone, but you need a specialized DSP for that.
>>
>>386470042
Because I'm not going to buy what are essentially rebranded Skullcandy headphones.
>>
>>386469747
I don't see literal who reviewers with measly 1000 views per video getting stuff for free, even that moderately popular Z Review dude doesn't get ALL his shit for free, he mostly has fans trading headphones with him or just dumping old shit they don't like on him.

You gotta be some Innerfidelty tier to get stuff brand new for free straight out of the manufacturer.
>>
>>386470158
Literally what? Lol
>>
>>386470187
Astro is owned by Skullcandy.
>>
>>386470042
You could've bought a better headphone plus amp for that price.
>>
>>386470259
That's like saying because Alienware is made by dell, that makes them suddenly worse quality. Newsflash, neither of these top brands are worse because of their parent company.
>>
>people buying GAAAAYMER headsets with shitty headphones and a headset

kek.

Astros really aren't all that terrible though, you can do a lot worse. It wouldn't be what I would get for myself, but if you wanted decent headphones with a surround DSP/mixamp, it's not all that bad of a deal.

Mic kinda sucks tho.

Weak bait, most of the stuff being recommended in this thread, Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser, are very mainstream in the headphone market and yet virtually no one are disagreeing with those responses, Razer just doesn't perform magic to make "gamers" headsets be worth theit value, they are all mediocre.

AKG K612, K701, Q701, K702, K7XX. If what you want is the highest level of ability to pinpoint directional audio those are what you want. I haven't personally heard the 702 or 7XX but they are all based on the same design. My daily headphones are a pair of Sennheiser HD650s and they do sound superior imo to all those headphones for music but cannot hold a candle to them in positional audio for games. The Sennheiser HD800s are also incredibly good for games but vastly out of the budget of most normal people.

The K612s are harder to drive (need more power from your PC) than the rest of that series. Do you have a sound card or fairly new motherboard? If so you should be fine. Keep in mind though that those in particular are pretty much stay at home headphones. Mobile devices cannot power them adequately. The ones in the 7xx series are more expensive but grant a little more versatility in that phones and tablets can power them just not ideally.

How cheap do they need to be? Give me an approximate budget and I'll list some suggestions. Do you want them closed or open backed?

Why would you buy a meme gamer brand that are shilled by twitch streamers?

Y-yeah, I can't afford that

But kingston is a tried and true computer peripheral company. They are not razer or whatever other "gaming peripheral" meme
>>
>>386482102

They say 119 dollars for me.

They are good headphones, are really comfortable (if you use the included velour pads) and sound great, I think it is a worthwhile investment if you use headphones a lot.

they're great headphones but way too inconvenient for pc use at this point since they now come with a coiled cable thats like 1 meter long

I'd suggest anyone looking for a pc audio solution just get a pair of sennheiser headphones and mod mic or some other microphone of choice. If you have to get a headset get the sennheiser game ones or game zeros since they are the ones actually prioritize audio and mic quality over retarded gamer gimmicks

Is there sound leakage in that headphone? If not I'll buy it then

A lot of people recommend the Superlux HD 681 and 668B but I haven't heard either one so I can't voice an opinion but they are worth considering based on positive feedback.

Go for a ATH-M40x and a Blue Snowball instead if you're going to spend over 100 on a shitty headsted.
>>
>>386482817

There is, they are semi-open headphones, that's the point. Open headphones sound better and are more comfortable for long periods.
>>
>>386482817

Yes. They are semi open. They will leak sound into the room.
>>
>>386482817
If you want open headphones they will leak sound.

That Samson seems like the best option. Thanks a lot, man

I had the Superlux 668B back when I was in college and didn't have any money. They sound OK but are really uncomfortable, the fake leather pads will fry your ears in less than an hour and the headband will dig into your skull.
