I took off a day of work to play MGS5 pretty recently.

When the Switch came out (3/3/17), it was right around financial reporting time (I work in financial reporting), I worked super hard to get everyone coordinated and finish GAAP financials a day early.

I schedule days off of work using vacation time to play games I've been looking forward to. I get 16 days worth of vacation and 6 worth of personal a year. Easily 8 of my 16 vacation days are usually for gaming. I make an event of it

>Put in the request to work for either Thursday and Friday off, or Monday and Tuesday.

When I was a teenager, I was hopelessly addicted to FFXI the year it came out on PS2 (I wanna say like 2004). The first MMO you play always pulls you in deep as shit, man. Anyway, I was being forced to spend a month in the summer with family who lived in the middle of buttfuck nowhere in central CA. It was this tiny as shit trailer on a dead, dry hill with the shittiest excuse for a/c ever, it was fucking miserable.

To my astonishment, I heard ahead of time that they actually had internet, albeit dialup. I brought my PS2 and played a bit, but they wouldn't let me play as much as I wanted, seeing how there were only 2 TV's in the trailer, one in the living room and one in one of the bedrooms. That and I was tying up their phone line all day. So I adapted. They didn't want me playing during the day, plus it was hot as shit. I ended up flipping my sleep schedule around so I could hog the living room TV and phone line all god damn night and play to my heart's content. I'd pass out in the morning, skip the hot ass daytime, and wake up to play more MMO. I barely spent any time with my family the whole month.

I don't regret it, they were assholes and FFXI was the best MMO I've ever played in its prime.

I did the same with comparing DaS2 to DaS1. Once you stop looking for what the new game lacks, you can appreciate the game for what it has.
