The "Battle Royale" meme is so fucking old at this point and only appeals to turbo-casuals who've never played a good online shooter and don't want to.

The mode that the game is built around is simply not fun or thought-out in any capacity. It's the same problem H1Z1 and Day Z had.

Literally the only battle royale style game with any thought or effort put into it so far has been SOS, where there are 3 winners instead of 1, you have to accomplish a goal to win instead of just surviving, there are computer enemies on the map, and you can form temporary alliances. They actually figured out that the biggest appeal of battle royale scenarios is the human drama of alliances and betrayals, not sitting behind a door for 30 minutes.

People team up in FFA games plenty often.

I dislike it because:
>third person mode has turned to meta cancer where you peek around trees with your camera rewarding chicken type gameplay where the first person to peek loses, always.
>looting is a chore. It's fun to work your way up from a shit double barrel or a revolver up, but what's not fun is when you drop into a group of houses with literally 0 guns which means running to another complex or just praying you get the drop on someone and they have shit aim. Not to mention the heavy reliance on energy drinks/painkillers later in the match which are again totally random.
>the medical system/boost system in general. I like the idea of diminishing return from lower tier healing items (bandages) so you don't have people just always healing up with them, but after the first aid kit cutoff, bandages are so slow that it's actually faster to chug 2 energy drinks to get to full health. Plus you get the speed boost.
>shit devs that keep hugging the nuts of streamers. I can't really blame them, streamers are the only reason the game is as popular as it is, but unbanning someone who teamkilled someone not part of their stream clique is unacceptable, that should be a swift, permanent ban. He can buy a new copy if he wants to continue playing so bad.

What I like:
>gunplay, zeroing in and bullet drop take a while to adjust to, but once you figure out the map key for zeroing distance it gets super fun to try your hand at sniping.

honestly yeah. I really don't know how they'd work it in so that it's a beneficial thing to do but they really should.
I want to be able to take mercy on someone who's down and then win them over and expand my team but you really can't.
Perhaps when you down someone you can strip them of their weapons and then revive them so they don't kill you.
Or you can fucking take another teams members hostage and drive off with them and force them to come to you to rescue their team mate.
But the game isn't really set up around that and it's kind of a different game if you did all that.

If anything I want the best of DayZ's player interactions in this game but idk.

What kind of incentive do you want?
If you team up you both have a higher chance, but you know you are gonna have to kill each other at the end either way.
It's just hard to communicate your intention when most people mute the server.
