No I'm afraid ~you~ don't understand GRD. Your examples of how it "rewards good play" tie into the infighting/dash and mash pressure stuff I was talking about.

In your own words you get lots of grd for blocking and landing hits, AKA grd builds for blocking the 20 second pressure I was pointing out, or for landing it and getting a lengthy combo. Neither of these have a goddamn thing to do with neutral. Moving back and forth and whiff punishing is neutral and your GRD is heavily penalized for moving backwards or standing still if the other person is moving towards you. Charging the meter isn't really possible to make up for the huge gap either because the majority of the cast either has fullscreen moves they can throw out really fast, fast projectiles or can just teleport to get in on your ass for trying to charge. The mechanic is interesting and the way it plays into the up close game is great, but it at best has nothing to do with neutral and at worse makes a neutral playstyle that lasts for more than 5 seconds a straight up handicap because of how strong vorpal and CS are.

You aren't frame trapping with reverse beating, what are you talking about? you just delay your normal attacks in UNI for the stagger if you want to frame trap someone. Reverse beating is used for trying to call out people throwing out slow pokes because they think your blockstring was finished. A good player can and WILL call this out because it's not free.
