There's plenty of ways people can come to hate elves, but i believe on /tg/ it stems from the fact that elves in a handful of tabletop games make elves out to be blatant dicks by human standards.
For d&d at least they're incredibly racist and snobbish. In generally they're weak as shit physically and put huge stress on being prim and proper, both of which are the opposite of what most people want in fantasy settings. They're also described not to have a sense of possession, so unless they've been taught that other races do they tend to just kind of grab anything that looks appealing to them, which makes people pretty upset.

The whole point of elves is that they were the top dogs of their day but fallen to stagnation and apathy and all they can really accomplish now is offering assistance to the superior race of Men. They know their time has passed and aside from a few holdouts can be calmly pushed aside.

Compare dwarfs, who hoard valuable technology for themselves and refuse to acknowledge their place as a stepping stone of Mankind's supremacy. Pillaging their holds and forcing out their secrets at sword point is the only true response to their recalcitrance. Orcs are filthy bandits and raiders only good for absolute extermination.
