What is the end game for graphics /v/? Is is when we have games that look exactly like everyday life or a stylized version of it?

Finally, what would be your ideal graphics for vidya gems?
>>
Horizon: Zero Dawn. We aren't going to improve anymore from there.

There are two things I want in the world of graphics:

>An animation for liquid pouring into or out of a cup that isn't total shit
>1920x1080p at a stable fps

Everything else is gravy

It should always depend on the game. A photorealistic Mario would be weird while an unrealistic looking version of P.T. would just not have the same impact.
>>

Stylised please, videogames are animation not cinema.
>>
>>386405369
these numbers confuse me pls explain.
>>
>>386405295
how is the game, i've heard many good things about it, but, i'm hesitant to purchase it.
>>
>>386405412
I'd play a photorealistic Mario game
>>
>>386405295
Yeah 512x512 textures are the highest we can go.

>1920x1080p at a stable 60 fps
fixed that for you
>>
Both would be great but graphics in games are currently hitting a point where the law of diminishing returns is taking effect.

Its a very polished 3rd person action game. Nothing new but the game play loop is good enough to last the whole game. The story is meh, but Guerrilla Games's visuals are the best of any console game developer imho.

1MB, 500x281px

That would be horrifying

Thanks, anon.

I'd rather an interesting art style over creepypasta tier hyperrealistic graphics. I think realism, to a point, is desirable in some things, but after that it's just a limitation. Like, Bloodborne for instance, has nice, consistent visuals with real-world inspired fashion and architecture that's been stylized, and monsters aside, people look like people, everyone looks kinda weird and skinny and have distinct features.

But it's down to the game you're making Silent Hill 1's environments still look great, SH3's character models are still top tier, too. Not every game needs to strive for realism, it's what kills a lot of fantasy games for me, trying to ground things in 'realism' instead of actually being creative with your visuals.

I know it probably has been said 1000000 (a million) times already, but I think BB has the best visual character design out of all Soulsborne games. They designed them to fit perfectly into the creepiness of the game with the long ass arms and all
