most likely a combination of the enormous player base of bf1 means you will almost always match fairly close players to ensure minimal latency and high bullet speed makes it almost as reliable as hitscan

depending on the game and the size of the player base projectile can work but overall it is better to have hitscan for a a more consistent online experience
