More damage and some more support options. Make them different from BRD so you gave different options. I'm on that server, too. I joined a small FC a while back and made a gay friend who later on invited me to a linkshell in which I met his friends. Now I'm moving around from (small) FC to FC meeting others. I find the majority annoying as you do (XD, :3, RP, scrubs, etc) but that's inevitable since we dwell in this shit hole.
Anyway point I'm trying to make is that you ought to be more accepting, patient, and that small FCs are your best bet. If you find someone you like then give them attention (this game's population is entirely composed of attention-craving show-offs) and invite them to play with you until it becomes the norm to run shit together.

I don't mind :3 but there's something about xD that rubs me the wrong way. I'm a scrub, unfortunately. I suppose I could try and be more accepting. Maybe it's just because I haven't unlocked all the areas of the game yet but I swear to God there's only about 15-20 FCs on the entire server. Such little variation. I can't go a single day without seeing a single member of each and every one of them and I never see members of any others. SMN has been a weird rollercoaster in XIV.

It was pretty underwhelming from what I remember in the 2.x series, requiring much more effort than something like BLM while putting out less DPS. A lot of people complained that it was more like a WoW warlock and not a true summoner or true pet job.

Those complaints got even louder when HW came out and no new pets, egi or otherwise were added. However, in the 3.x series, SMN worked much better mechanically with the addition of dreadwyrm trance, ruin 3 and deathflare and all that than it during the 2.x time period. Now people mostly just complained about it aesthetically since functionally it performed quite well. I think that's why the cries for egi glamour over other changes were so prevalent during this time.

Then SB rolls around and now SMN is this weird in between of butchering the dots and playstyle from the HW-era to focus on the Bahamut thing and appease the pet people, but the Bahamut is underwhelming in every way except visual and its so limited that the pet people are still unhappy. The people that liked the dot style now have a raped Bane and Deathflare that are shadows of their former selves and are now largely just Ruin mages. Now neither party is happy and the job just sucks.

SE is gonna have to take a hard stance on what they want SMN to be when the next expansion rolls around. They can't please both crowds and have the job still work. It requires too many compromises on both ends.

Not to mention their hesitance to make changes to core skills because of how it effects SCH and vice versa. That's been a thorn in their side since 2.0.

Almost seems like they'd be better off splitting either SCH or SMN from ACN and then doing whatever the fuck they wanted with the job that was split and then rebalance the one that remained knowing that its only going to one job.

What is the most fun proc based job? I like classes where you're upkeeping a basic rotation/priority system then have lots of rng chances to ramp up damage.

Let you summon the lesser Egi's but make them more powerful, no hp bars so they can't die, and make them last like 15 seconds excel at different things. This would probably be the best thing. Leave SCH with ACN and make SMN its own thing. I'm sorry, I don't care what the "lore" or whatever says to justify the ACN stuff, a summoner type class shouldn't be a DoT spammer with an impotent minion. If I wanted a WoW warlock, I'd fucking play WoW.

My ideal SMN job would be one that has its normal spells that let it build up to summoning strong creatures, maybe something similar to Bahamut but not entirely underwhelming. Either that, or have the job revolve around buffing its pets and amplifying their capabilities.

Anything after doesn't change much anymore, it just complicates your cooldown management a bit. Then again Ten Chi Jin however at 70 is also very nice because it's quite different from the other dps cooldowns NIN has access to, is versatile, but needs to be used smartly or it will just go to waste.

Overall I'd say as soon as you get Ninki gauge that's like 95% of NIN already.

There won't be any balancing changes. MCH can outdps bard, it's just much much much much harder than any other class to play right now. SMN may deserve a slight damage buff since it sits at RDM dps but has less utility, but I doubt it will get any. If youre group is lacking dps to clear, gear and practice will cover the difference.

SCH is pretty damn strong at 70 now, it's just that it's strength is now more of an oGCD healer. It also takes a bit of getting used to at 70, as my friend described it you pay more attention to the overall fight and when damage is known to happen rather than just watching hp bars, cast heals for when the damage happens or is going to happen, spend the rest of the time doing dps.
