The reason why I'm positive is that it's been 10 years since the last Prime game and people got fucking upset over Federation Force and Other M before that. They expect a by-the-books Metroid Prime game and I think that's exactly what Nintendo are setting out to do here.
They realise they fucked up and need to win back the fans' respect. At least, that's what I think.

depends who this "development team" is. If its out sourced to retro it could be good, but if its in house then it's more likely to be bad based on nintendos recent releases. I also can't think of many other good studios to work on it either though

To have a good Metroid thread you need to wait until night, at least past midnight. You also gotta try to bring up some genuine discussion of the games that outsiders won't find interesting. You can't start the thread with shitposting material like Samus Returns or Other M or whatever. Make it seem boring to outsiders, but interesting to actual fans.
There will always be some shitposters having their way, but know that they'll eventually leave. It happens every time. You just gotta deal with the wave and once it starts slowing down, you can start talking about the games again.
One good idea is to have some wallpapers ready in case the thread starts dying.

Metroid Prime 1 was a brand new Dev in Retro being guided mostly by Nintendo

This is the same situation here, it's a new team that's still being mainly handled and guided by Nintendo

Also, opinionated but people argue MP1 is still the best game in the series and that's because of Nintendo's guidance where as MP2 and 3 were just Retro alone, making 4 have an even bigger chance of being a great game

Prime is my favourite game, but Prime 2 has the best atmosphere in the series. I know that's kind of a bullshit word that means nothing without context, but I really love how Dark Aether does such a good job of creating an oppressive atmosphere not only through dark visuals and ambient music, but also through the gameplay. The spike in difficulty makes it so hostile. It's really intense exploring an environment that's so dangerous. Really made me feel like a kid, playing the original Metroid again.

Yeah, it's a shame the energy regeneration was so goddamn slow and the damage done was so high. If they had lower the damage rate and upped the regen rate, it wouldn't be that bad. I mean, you could also shoot some of those weird plant things for energy.
