Why does everyone hate Online Gaming now? Seriously what the fuck happened? Anyone from the PS2/Xbox era would tell you that Online Gaming was the best thing to happen to gaming. It was the refreshing as fuck when it came about. So why is it that literally everyone says "I only play with my friends" and cowards out like a little punk ass bitch?
>>
Because playing with randoms these days is a barrel of shit. You either get to play with autistic spergs obsessed with meta, retards hellbent on causing chaos, or marketwhores trying to farm cosmetics. In the end, your best bet is to either find a specific subcommunity to play with, or just avoid the cancer that online play has become.
>>
Because you now have to play with people born after the year 1990 when you play online
>>
>>386390461
Because games that cost money to buy started to ban people as a result of these online communities.

ts more excusable in lol/dota because they're free, but the whole report system and bans existing in cs go for example because your internent hiccuped or someone got thin skinned from being owned/trashtalked is retarded.

The way online gaming has gone is just sad. Halo had teamkilling, and incentive to do so (power weapons) and still managed to have a much better community than cs go, which kicks you if you so much as bounce a grenade the wrong way.

Because it's overdone with every company trying to make one today. And it's super popular now, and attracts all the shitters.
Just look at overwatch. I dare you to try and play an off meta hero and not get throwers every other game. I hate using the normie boogeyman as an excuse but that is exactly the case for new gen shooter like overwatch.
You get the tryhard spergs that throw fits if you don't do what they say.
The little fucking kids that throw every game, call everyone nigger, then call you mad if you even attempt to react to them.
The titty girls that only talk/play to get whitenighted by degenerates.
And the other 5% of chill people that play multiplayer are quiet and try to avoid the shit.
That's what multiplayer has become.
>>
I want friends who aren't spergs, are decent at the game, and actually play games besides that game. What are my options?
>>
>>386393372
For once I agree with the weeb shitter
>>
>>386393372
angry meme noises
>>
>>386391780
This, pretty much. There's also the mildly annoying issue of publishers demanding that a game have both a single- and multiplayer experience, so resources that could've gone into the single player are dumped into a lackluster multiplayer mode that completely dies less than six months after the game's release. Fortunately, this is becoming less of an issue in recent years, and we're starting to see more games that don't even bother with multiplayer.
>>
>>386390461
>Communities have become oversensitive messes where you're not allowed to think outside whatever the group believes
>Good single player experiences have diminished because of online focus
>Online has become a crutch to excuse bad game design
>Despite everyone becoming more oversensitive, etiquette is at an all time low and shitty player habits are more rampant than ever

I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now. Online can be real fucking great, but it's horribly misused these days.
>>
Because a select group of faggots wanted match making over picking your servers

a majority of gamers think this a good thing now
>>
I love online gaming but most of the online games that are popular right now I don't like, like CSGO, MOBAs, PUBG
I just play smaller community online games mostly(but I also play Rainbow six siege because that's fun)
>>
I know its a popular thing to hate now but does anyone else here prefer multiplayer games over single player since always?

I dont know why most single player games can and will bore me sometimes

Have you ever tried playing Dota solo? It's what made me quit playing it, and I wish I had friends to play it with. I got sick and tired of either supporting retarded carries or carrying my retarded team. You really do need friends to play a game like Dota.
>>
>>386393543
Join very small communities from either niche or older games. I was actually in a jka clan for a few months a while ago (February-May) and everyone was really nice there.
>>
>>386390461
several reasons

>everything is e-sports e-sports e-sports. everyone is a tryhard faggot who just rushes to find the most overpowered thing and only uses that

>liberals turn every game into a hugbox, no trash talking allowed, no jokes allowed, if you offend a snowflake ding dong bannu

>no custom servers or mods so the devs can milk more money out of you by making you buy maps and skins and weapons instead of the community making their own
>>
>>386391780
>>386392178
>>386393372
>>386393874
These are all correct.

Online games were a good idea but the communities always turn to shit one way or another.

the best example is tf2. Great game that turned to shit and now every community serve is either 24/7 turbine/2fort map, trade maps or instant respawn that breaks the flow of the games.
>>
>>386390461
Two things killed online gaming.

Matchmaking.
Leaderboards (or any form of global ranking).

Back then no one cared. When you started counter strike or UT you'd just play with whoever was on that server today. Nobody cared about their KDA beyond for that very game session, the moment the map changed it was over.

Now? All games are made so you constantly stay around 50% winrate. People get mad at losing because "muh ranking" even if they perfectly know they'll never be pros anyway.

I don't understand the obsession about being ranked in games when you're not competing to be at the very top (talking about the .001% here, the top ~500 worldwide for any given game). If you're not in there, you're worthless anyway so why bother?
>>
>>386394645

Expect that liberal ideology you mentioned happens more in custom servers
>>

>liberals turn every game into a hugbox, no trash talking allowed, no jokes allowed, if you offend a snowflake ding dong bannu
>no custom servers or mods so the devs can milk more money out of you by making you buy maps and skins and weapons instead of the community making their own

That liberal shit happens in servers more
>>

>server side rules
only banned on that server. Can join another.
>game wide rules
Banned from the whole game. X amount of dollars gone.

Halo 2/3 and BFBC2/4 had mm too but they were still good gameplay and community wise. But having a separate competitive mm is autistic and retarded

>have over 1200 hours in CSGO
>start noticing flaws in the game
>Game is getting less fun every time I play it
>Realize that CSGO is really mediocre
Are there any other games that could replace CSGO?

>you can't trash talk in literally any level or else you will be banned
>At one game some one said some thing among the lines of "this guy is mah nigga" and got instantly banned by a mod.

Weirdly enough the mods and members of the server could trash talk as much as they wanted for whatever reason.

But it was the very early days and games like BC2 were massive enough for MM to have nearly no impact anyway, the skill gap on any given server ranged from total noob to people who could be semi-pro. No clue about Halo, not an xbox fag.

The problem today is that everyone is expecting to win, at least roughly 40~50% of their matches because that's what MM was made for.

Back then when you played a new genre online for the first time you knew well that you were at the bottom of the pyramid. You expected those 0.5 K/D ratio on any FPS, you expected being bullied on C&C/RA and not win a quarter of your matches initially.

Everyone saw the difficulty scale this way: CPU easy > CPU normal > CPU hard > Online Multiplayer.

People were prepared to lose and were less mad about it.

I don't know what it is, but the games that delivered that great feeling of online play (CSS, COD4, MW2) still carry the feeling to this day. I could load up CSS, join some scoutzknivez or gun game, and find at least one drunk 20-something year old with a mildly deep voice that's getting the whole server to socialize and not give a fuck. It's really something else, because when you go into a modern online game, there's no socializing, and when there is it's nothing but tension and retarded shit. Everyone's waiting to one up another or prove each other wrong.

I just wanna have my CSS community back from 2007 where there were like 30 of us and it was like a family, I was only fucking 15 but it was amazing
>>

it's weird how people look fondly back at like CS' online community and never seem to remember how fucking shit it was. almost every fucking game you had actual retards, insane ragers, 10 year old kids screaming on the mic with the worst trash talk ever, it was some brutal shit. if anyone was ever talking about bad gaming communities, counterstrike's was the very first thing anyone thought of. my only guess is that the people nostalgic about it were probably the 8-10 year olds from back then.

Mostly anyone online plays like a complete elitist like exhibit A

There is no sportsmanship. There is no comraderie. There is no worth playing a game online unless you have a team.

When gaming hit the mainstream is the marked downfall of quality in online play. We always had the spergs, the trolls, the autists, and the retards, but the community was smaller. Those who ruined the games for others were quickly weeded out because no one would interact with them after a certain point.

Then internet became affordable, MMOs and arena shooters became accessible to the general public. Online games were cool, but were being flooded with folks who never touched one before. That's when it all started going to shit.
Then mygOt popped up with their videos of them trolling the shit out of faggots, and it was funny for a bit. But that was the precursor to the montage videos. We got those BadRobot/Keemstar videos on youtube of trolling kids in Halo. People realized they could become internet-famous if they did that shit. That evolved into the Streamers.

Now we're in 2017. MMOs are soiled with autistics and trolls, shooters have to be E-SPORTS, and indie trash fires give streams preferential treatment so they say their game is good.
OH FUCKING BOY WHAT'S NEXT?

Low effort shitposting is stupid and annoying. That is why no one here likes you. Go back to watching your call of duty trolling vids, and spamming nonsense in reddit cause being a contrarian is funny to you.
