Why do FPS developers love to shove weapons into your face?
>>386386067
Because a smaller FOV means less to render.
>>386386067
make your own FPS then
>>386386067
so we can enjoy the heavily detailed gun model
>>386386067
No one cares about the forearms of Johny MacFuck, marine on the USS Whatever. I'm here for ganz and shooting
>>386387107
Not strictly
Some games out there use a dual FOV system, where the gun is rendered using a separate FOV, and then everything else uses a world FOV
I always though FPS's should have a button you hold to ready your weapon, I've never seen anyone just walk around aiming their weapon or even carrying their weapon at the ready. Usually until you need to use it, you're just holding it like pic related. You're still ready to bring it up when needed, but no one in real life is even at the low ready all the time.

This just shows that the weapons were optimized for low console FoV, so they exclude FoV adjustments on it on PC.
>>386387523
MGSV does it well. Not an fps though.

>bf4 almost doubles the poly count on its guns compared to 3
>can tell no difference
>>386387273
Leaning mechanics are cool
>>386386994
>not every single game uses doom
>>386387523
That is called an "acceptable break from reality". You're playing a FPS to shoot things. In real life you're typically hoping to never have to shoot anything.
>>386387273
Is that riddick?
>>386387859
>>386386067
You don't have to render anything behind the gun.
Game runs like dogshit because it's on a console with shit hardware? Make the gun fukken huge and save resources.
I liked red orchestra 2's gun system of freeaim and sway.
it balanced guns nicely without needing to resort to shit like random deviation.
>>386387996
I'm not sure occlusion works that way without a lot of extra effort and environment-specific fine tuning
>>386387273
not bad
What, no Overwatch yet?
Look at this fucking garbage.
>>386387635
>making a gif of a webm
What kind of nigger are you? Get the fuck out.
>>386388404
Takes up half the fucking screen, hate that shit.
>>386388404
honestly the gameplay's not deep enough to /really/ require that great of an FoV
>>386387698
There's gotta be room out there for an FPS that a little more accurately simulates real combat.
Then again, people in real life are inaccurate as fuck, so someone under no pressure with no physical stress on them would just casually walk through a battlefield.

ARMA III
>>386387273
i love the detail starbreeze puts into their games. This and The Darkness that was never released on PC
>game allows you to aim down sights
>still gives you crosshairs for hipfiring
>has pseudo magic eye zoom that for some reason decreases spread
>crouching decrases spread
most games should have weapon holstering
the battlefield campaings did it well, you had your weapon holstered most of the time on cutscenes or safe places where you would just walk around
but desu I wish more games did realistic weapon shooting right like Arma or Fear, you don't need to shove weapons in our face so we can shoot better
