Space War mentions that they died 280 years before the Emil encountered aliens.
Alien invasion happened in 5012.
The Lost World (when Nier gets resurrected) happened in 3473.
So it's implied that they had quite a fucking long lifespan, comparable to shadowlord.
Actually, it's unknown if both of them are even replicants anymore as Tyrann mentioned that Kaine will be made into a normal human and Nier got resurrected from a giant technomagical flower after his Gestalt was already dead.

I'm still confused by one thing in the game. How was the Gestalt program supposed to work? Did the replicantse just walk out of some facility or whatever they were created in and begin living their lives?

Tyrann was a human called Yura involved with a secret military service, he became a fugitive after he failed to protect Kaine's grandmother's mansion. He managed to become a Gestalt and changed his name to Tyrann. His Replicant was killed so he lives by possessing other people's bodies, like Kaine.
