If you ignore some of the very worst, disgusting, cancerous, misguided, deluded, and autistic fanbase in existence, stop seeing tumblr everywhere (in fact take 4chan glasses off), understand that monsters are not humans and have entirely different culture (this is very important actually), and don't take the game that seriously then you will find this game quite decent.

Overrated? Not really; it does a lot of things differently and follows its own rules which is uncommon today.
Underrated? Again, not really as it's a game worth playing an beating. It's short and simple.
