I love the art style and atmosphere of all of Supergiant's games, but I couldn't get into the gameplay of Bastion or Transistor. I always see them in my steam library and feel bad, like I couldn't give them a proper chance. I want to get Pyre but I'm afraid the same thing will happen again and I'll have another unfinished game in my library.

You can finish Bastion in one night, is what I did - gameplay is good to do that. Pyre asks you a bit more in that regard, it's longer and rites are their own, heavy thing, it might not be for you.

Yes. I'd say that even if you did not like the gameplay of those two, ESPECIALLY if you did not like it, you really should give Pyre a chance because it is so different. The gameplay starts out slow, to teach you the basic, but once you learn how to properly play, the gameplay has an incredible depth, and it's very fun and rewarding to play.

Which class do you think is the best/worst?

Drive-imps seem way too OP, big aura + flight + explosion spamming with only 2 masteries seems a little too much for a runner class.

Nomads may be the worst mainly because average abilities combined with top-tier support masteries forces them into a passive role, actually playing as them isn't very fun (but they're still viable)

Agreed for the most part, but I think they all succeeded in different areas.

I really love Transistor's aesthetic, and how you were able to interact with the world in subtle ways through the abandoned computer consoles.

Seconding those who think the characters were weaker though. A lot of the story was left up to interpretation, so we get very few concrete interactions with anyone.

Nomad was my favourite actually. I had the timing for his perfect cast perfected and I basically dominated the map whenever I used him, he was best character.

I've got a question, because I feel like I missed something

There's parts of the game where Volfred and The Voice both speculate that the stars disappearing is somehow Oralech's fault, but it just seems like that's something happening on the part of the Titan Stars completely independent of everything else going on in the world, unless I'm mistaken?

Is there any particular reason why the events of the game line up with the end of the star cycle or is the climatic final confrontation of the game coinciding with something so dire just a coincidence of the narrative to heighten the stakes?

I was Playing VS and I noticed that each of the characters have their own unique Dunking animation, if not then atleast the demons do.

I really like that if you lose the final rite by a small margin, Oralech potentially lets you ascend instead of him.

But on the same hand, I feel like if you completely BTFO the final fight and then choose to ascend yourself or one of your Nightwings Oralech should have tried to push you off Mt. Alodiel and take your place.

But then, punishing the player for doing well at the game is questionable game design so I get why they didn't do it.

To be honest, the game gives a lot of incentive to let the Moontouched Girl stay behind in the Downside. She doesn't have much to go back to on the surface to begin with, never seemed particularly interested in returning, and hooking her up with Almer leads to a really cute outcome.

If it weren't for Mama Jodariel wanting to be able to protected her smile, leaving her behind would be a total no-brainer. Even with that, she's one of the characters that's easiest to leave behind without feeling bad about it especially if the Fate doesn't win liberation.

Just finished the game the other night. Fantastic experience, overall. One thing really confused me though: at the end of the last liberation rite, The Voice yells "Nightwings! Reader! What have you done?" once he realizes that the rites are over forever. That would imply that either you or Oralech are responsible for the stars burning out, but none of the characters and nothing in the Book of Rites ever present a very clear picture to why that's happening, let alone what you have to do with it.

It's kind of ironic when you think about it: when you lead a peaceful revolution, the ending narration says that the leadership of the Commonwealth all either abdicate their power or flee into exile in the Downside. Given that Volfred claims much of the leadership of the Commonwealth are exiles who succeeded in the rites and assumed new identities, it would strongly imply that The Voice's fate was ultimately to survive exile and attain liberation in the Rites, only to be cast back into the Downside just as the Rites are ended forever.

Finished it in 3 sittings. Pretty good but damn the last couple of hours were ridiculously repetitive. The vocals for the "finals" match is cool but you do it 6 fucking times.
