What Monitor is /v/ accepted?
i currently have a old AF monitor
i want the acer x34.. is ultrawide curved gaming approved?
Hell no, porn would look terrible all stretched out over that thing.
>>386352091
no, get a standard 1080p monitor
>>386353204
>1080p in 2017
are you serious? 1080p is old as fuck
4k is the new standard
>>386352091
I game on an ultrawide and love it. Only a few nip games and Overwatch don't support it. Pretty much everything else does. Got about 490 steam games.
Gonna upgrade to the new QDOT ASUS G-sync 36" ultrawide this fall tho.
>>386353008
but in good porn things get stretched out anyway.
>>386352091
/g/ exists
ultrawide is a meme
I would get a cheap 1080p 144hz monitor for now then get a 4k 144hz later for "future proofing". Even 1440p 144hz would be ideal. Even at 1440p 144hz is hardly attainable on a single GPU yet and SLI/Xfire is also a meme.
27 inch 1440p144hzthree of them

>Not gaming on a 55" 4K TV with HDR.
Holy shit. PC gamers really are fucking retarded.
I wouldn't listen to /v/ too much.
Dell Ultrasharp U2515H is still sweet though, but maybe there are newer/better screens out there. It depends on what you find important.
>>386353491
This shit's way the fuck more relevant than e-celeb faggotry.
>>386353942
Kill yourself. How the fuck isn't this thread topical?
>>386353328
are you rich?
>>386353893
You tried
>>386354065
Not an argument.

I've had a different experience. I've found fairly few games that support ultrawide particularly well, they all seem to have been designed for 1080. Either the UI is a little off, or you have cut-offs/stretching issues, or the scaling isn't quite right. Some games technically support the resolution, but you have to dick about in .ini files like it's fucking 1995 to get them to run. Fucking pure disappointment man.
I love me my monitor as it's great for developing on but when I'm gaming I tend to use the second, which is a bog-standard 1080p as it's supported by everything and I don't need to dick around with it.
Still, YMMV. OP should probably look at the games they want to play on it and see if there are any dealbreakers WRT widescreen support.

I got the Acer predator ultrawide. It's great, I can never go back to 16:9.
It's only 100hz though, I think there is new ultrawides coming out with 144hz.
>>386354106
It isn't, because your post isn't an argument either :)
>>386352091
FYI: If you have g-sync, it's misconfigured and you have input lag you're just too shit to realise.
1080p 144hz TN with freesync/gsync is the best choice for games
4K 60hz IPS is the best choice for non-games
>>386354062
Just have a job. Gainfully employed.
1 big monitor vs 2-3 smaller ones?
>>386352091
I have that monitor.
>>386353328
>3 seagates
Are you dumb?
>>386354558
Teach me master, what am I doing wrong?
I've got an Acer X34. It's fucking awesome. There actually aren't too many games these days that don't support ultrawide resolutions, and most that don't have workarounds.
Really the ones that don't support it are 2D games or indie games, but for the most part everything is supported really well. 100hz is a perfect compromise between 60 and 144hz too.
>>386354558
How do you fix it?
>>386354620
>TN
This meme needs to die.
>>386353676
>1080p in 2017
kek
My ultrawide is the best monitor Ive ever used. Most games are supported or have a fix, and there are a few programs designed just for fixing games on ultrawide aspect ratios. I'd go for it. If you want a /v/ approved monitor then get a 4:3 800 x 600 monitor.
>>386353893
nice 15ms lag
>>386353771
this is correct. Also make sure it's IPS.
>>386355167
kek
>>386354885
No. My company has a contract with them so I get them at cost. I have another tower that has about 8 of them, a media server. All important stuff goes on it, and it has redundancy striped array (raid 5).

The bad ones.
>>386352091
Here I am with my samsung 226bw having my own editing business.
>>386352091
I had an AOC 4K 28 inch at 70hz and just switched to a 1440p IPS 100z 27 inch Xstar DP2710. Its the glossy panel with an ugly af bezel, but it just looks way better than the AOC 4K
I'm seriously torn between getting an ultrawide or two 27".
I play games but I wouldn't prioritize that over working in Unreal Engine and I'm not sure what's the best setup.
>>386352091
Go for it, great monitor
>>386353008
Why would it be stretched ?
>>386353417
Oh Ultros.. you scamp!
>>386355072
enjoy your input lag
>ultrawide instead of 2 monitors
For what purpose?
>>386352091
are you fucking retarded? curved AND ultrawide? one meme chasing the other.
get a high refresh monitor for gaming. 1440p if your pc is powerful..
