I agree. It's just as bad now as it was then.

Gotcha Force.
The game is real fun. And it still looks really good, especially in Dolphin with higher resolution and anti aliasing.

I'm playing it again and it's quite smooth. Though, I did have some camera issues at points.

This game could be fucking amazing if it was properly remastered, like Wind Waker HD.

Games don't age. They're still the same exact 1s and 0s that they were back when they first came out.

You aged.

"This game hasn't aged well" is a concise and simple way of saying "Standards have evolved and this game is well below these new standards, making it a way less enjoyable experience nowadays, when you have a larger catalog of video games to play with a ton of them being better than this game in what it's trying to do"

Hope this helps

Games do age, just like other media. It's not about physical state, it's about something holding up when compared to its successors.

I will never understand the hype behind this game. I actually bought this shit for 50 used and the whole thing was a joke. The highlight was seriously how bad the acting was.

The only saving grace I've found for this game is that it's worth like 150 dollars now so I can at least get my money back tricking some other stupid faggot who listened to hypeposters like you.

>>
>>386347574
HD made sailing not total drag to do. It basically turns one of the worst executed features into a non-issue. Definitely the best thing to come out of the remake spree from Nintendo except for maybe item iron boots.
>>
>>386348289
Everyone has different tastes, I personally love the game.
Also it's a bad choice to buy an old game instead of just emulating it. You're not supporting anyone involved with the game by buying it now, so there's no benefit to buying it.
>>
>>386348443
Just saying that it really needs to have a 60 fps remake.
It's objectively shitty to have the image so choppy when you're trying to be precise.
Doing Haschel's Hex Hammer is something you learn to do without any visual cues since it happens so fast all you see are the first rotating squares

Nice attempt at discussion, faggot, but I got you covered
>>
>>386348518
I bought it back before emulation took off, and gamestop was a relevant place to find games otherwise I would have just emulated it. I didn't buy it to support anything, I just wanted to play it because I heard it was great. Rental places were long dead by that one, and none would have had obscure crap like Gotcha.
>>
>>386348657
Getting frame perfect button presses at 60fps is harder than 15fps.
>>
Games don't age. You just grow up and realize that you only enjoyed a lot of the crap you played as a kid because you were young and hadn't developed any taste yet.
>>
>>386348657
>i need 60 fps to hit 1 frame inputs
>can't hit with 15 which is effectively 4 frame window in 60
>expects to hit it with 60 where it's a quarter that

60fps would be nice but not that for that you dip. It would make it even harder for you to hit.
>>
>>386345641
Rachet and Clank games are still fun.
>>
>>386348775
>>386349012
The difficulty doesn't come from the timing, per se, but rather from the cue leading up to it.
The actual timing difference is trivial. 0.02 seconds vs 0.07 seconds. A whopping 0.05 second difference.

When we press things in frame perfect ways, we don't wait until we see the perfect frame, then press in reaction. You literally cannot see and react within that amount of time. What we do is see what leads up to that frame, and then start to press so that when the frame comes up, the button hits down.

While the margin of error is wider for a 15 fps game, it's insignificant compared to the help that proper visual cues would give.

I know this was a mech combat game, but was it better or worse than Custom Robo? I liked Custom Robo as a teenager but that shit really did not age well at all. The balance between weapons is fucking hideous (we're talking "get close and mash B to auto-win" versus "good luck hitting this weapon that does no damage once per match" here) even ignoring the intentionally OP illegal weapons. The movement mechanics feel stiff and awful, especially on mechs with bad ground speed or no proper air dash.
On a scale from Custom Robo to Virtual On, how well does GF play?

I disagree, they took away the mini-map from the HUD, which makes me consider the GC version superior from a convenience perspective.

TP HD and Breath of the Wild were both smart enough to realize the mistake and put the mini-map back up.

This isn't relevant to the gameplay, but Mega Man Legends is the only game I can think of that actually uses different textures on the models depending on the angle you're looking at them at
Here you can see Teisel's mouth has depth despite being a flat texture, because they're using the "looking left" mouth
I just thought that was interesting
>>
>>386354873
technically it isn't angle-dependent at all, since it's always in cutscenes and thus you don't control over the angle, and if you were to play the cutscene in an editor where you can change the camera angle you'd see the textue doesn't change, just looks weirdly distorted. Artists just drew what looked good for the scene.
