The way supports work in this game, and what they talk about adding, makes it pretty different to HW.

Unless they decide to go down the same road they went with for the DoA5U/LR chars I wouldn't bank on much more than costumes and weapons for DLC, there will be chars, but not nearly to the extent that HW had

If you are, 7 is meant to have the story done the best, 8 has extra mechanics like storm rushes, ad weapon switches, and will auto-level as you go through the story for each faction.

If you don't care for story or character backgrounds, then I'd recommend Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate as the best one to try.
Lets you have 3 officers at once so you can try ot a lot more of the 120+ roster, decent weapon forging system, only thing is the enemy officers have paper durability for the most part, and yashi'oro sections are tedious as fuck

Its a game that is fun at the start for the sheer spectacle of carving through mobs of fodder, but it boils down to using the same 1 or 2 combos over and over again.

And every character only has like 5 different attack combos at most, all of those combos beginning with the same Weak Attack string. I have no idea why all the characters have to function that way, because its pretty bad.

I'd expect they could at least try to vary the movesets. Why does every heavy attack need to be a finisher?
If the the combos were more like what you would find in a Platinum game, it'd be way better immediately.

As is, if you want a mook murder simulator, you're better off playing Shadow of Mordor instead of a musou.

This is why Basara is also much better to play than any Musou. There, you have a basic string and a handful of different specials you can use at any time. You can mash the strings or you can be creative with the specials to create really long and damaging combos

I don't quite understand why Koei never really stepped it up. They even standardize characters so that each ender has its own function for every character. The only good thing they ever did was giving characters special moves that use Musou meter, but the core never really changed.
