Knack, for good or bad, is still on people's minds. LoD isn't. Knack also has assets they can re-use, cutting dev costs down.
Also Knack getting a sequel to fix the problems with the first game is entirely justified.

What is /v/s obsession with this game? It's a lousy FF8 that must take a while to go anywhere story wise. It wasn't bad, just really boring and had a lot of cliches that I'm tired of. I liked the dude that said SPINNING cane, mostly because of how he said it.

If we really cant have something original id rather have a new LoD game, in the same setting/universe that is either so far ahead or behind in the timeline that its basically new

Sony is not caring anymore about traditional JRPGs, that's why they receeded the contract with Level-5 after White Knight Chronicles and now Japan Studio has either helped other teams or done different gerne games. The closest thing that happened was Bloodborne, but that's arguably more an hack 'n slash with focus on RPG elements.

I like Black Mesa but it's not Half-Life. BM is clearly a "reimagining" of HL1 to make it more like a survival horror game than an action one. I'm talking about an updated HL1 that looks and plays like HL1 but not vomit-inducingly grotesquely ugly with '80s Sound Blaster-quality sound FX.

Yeah that sucks. That would explain what happened to the Dark Cloud 3 rumours floating around E3 a few years ago. It's a shame since Sony could do so much with them with modern technology but as usual they refuse to do anything.

I can kind of understand why Sony don't sink money into JRPGs anymore, since they sunk some serious cash into Folklore and then the two WKC games, none of which sold well at all, but it's still a shame. Plus I guess their reasoning is that they get every non-Ninty JRPG on their platform, where it sells the best anyway, so there's no need to actually commission studios to make ones for them.

I wouldn't even mind a spiritual successor because the battle system is so fun. I'd imagine you'd get a lot more than three party members as well.

It's crazy that Sandlot is alive and well while continuing their use of the Drive Engine.
Damn shame this game is tied up in square business politics and fucked in getting any sort of port or digital distribution.
