Hello dudes I just got off my 1 month ban. To celebrate lets discuss this gaming concept:
A dimetric 3d sci-fi RPG based off heavy inspiration from G.U.R.P.S + fallout 1 & 2 philosophy of ambiguity & player freedom taking center stage.
The entire game is open world, but takes place on a backwater space station that is more like a space based small city than anything else.
The games atmosphere would be classical 80s/90s style gritty sci-fi. (Think Blade Runner, Alien, Aliens etc).
Potential gameplay elements:
>Tactical or twitch based combat
>Killing children, raping women
>Politics
>Blowing up the station
>complex moral choices in all sorts of grey areas (instead of "Ultima good" or "Cartoon character bad" options)
>Most character interactions NOT voice acted
>Intelligent situations, problems and dialogue inspired by the greatest classical literary and philosophical works
>Absence of quest tracker/marker
>Ability for 1-3 players to join the main characters game
I feel it's time for real sandboxes to return. None of this trash we have today!

Sounds good.

Answer honestly. Are you on the spectrum?
>>386319760
Sounds extremely reddit.
>>Killing children, raping women
Go away, Icy.
Why were you banned OP?
>>386319760
Welcome back. Thanks for not wasting the IP range.
It took you a month to watch that "Why Fallout isn't Fallout" video?
>>386320954
That video was released just 5 days ago.

And it was still shit

Axonometric kinda looks nicer IMO.

What the fuck is wrong with cavalierfags, that shit isn't comfy at all
>>386321396
Fallout 1 and 2 use it and they look kind of fine.
The weirdest perspective I've seen is whatever the original Divine Divinity was using.

Might wanna delete this thread before somebody screen-caps your pasta

you just had to be rude

You bit me, don't then be surprised when you get bit back. I take it you're not into the game idea. Care to say why?
>>386323008
Your game idea is barely an idea. I know nothing about it other than, "It's in a space town," and, "You can do ANYTHING!" There's nothing about the combat, nothing about what kind of technology is present in the setting, anything about the art style, or anything about the story.
How does the co-op work? What is the explanation for random players suddenly popping in? Can players retain items from their hosts' game? Couldn't this be used to corrupt quests?
What does, "Most character interactions not voice acted," mean? Just a New Vegas thing where the player character is silent? Or is it like Breath of the Wild where only a handful of scenes have voiceacting? Either way, this is extremely jarring and harmful for immersion-- why have voice acting at all?
Why is rape and infanticide the second highest on your list? Do you have some kind of ulterior motive here?
Why is the player character there? Why can't they leave? What is their goal (re: What marks the end of their journey)?
How does the player save and load their game? How do checkpoints work? What is the punishment for death? Quicksaving destroys all tension and difficulty, surely you would not want that? Or is there permadeath?
How does the game handle player character attributes? You mentioned GURPS as your first inspiration-- will the game be riddled with insulting little numbers plaguing every aspect of the game? Will I be staring at pages and pages of statistics and layers of menus? This game sounds like it will have an ugly HUD. All this sounds like the opposite of immersion-- role playing will be hard if the game takes every opportunity to bash me over the head and remind me it is a video game.
How does the combat work? Does it employ RNG? I assume it is real-time since you say, "twitch based." What sets this game's combat apart from other games?
