I never regretted my PS1. It had wonderful games like Megaman, YGO: Forbidden memories, Parasite Eve, Silent hill, and a few others. Try setting Preferred SPU Threads for the game at either 1, 2, or 3 (you will have to test all these). Then you'll have to manually edit the config file for the game and set PPU Threads to 3 (at least that works for me).

It won't completely fix audio but hopefully it should improve performance a bit. If not, then it's just because the FX CPUs can't deal.

Just beat that pushover monk in Demon's Souls. It works surprisingly well, but for me the game freezes now and then with Vulkan (and OpenGL is too slow).

FXAA would be a godsend at this point though, since I assume increasing the internal resolution is way, way down the road.
