Easily my favorite SH game.

copied thread aside, I love SH4.
I actually enjoy it the most in some ways because it's not a rehash.

Actually I think I heard it back on G4 when it was reviewed on Judgement Day. That's the reason why I never played it. Never bother to look that much into it because I heard it sucked anyway.

Walter is the best villain in the series, Twin Victims are one of the best enemies in the series, the game is arguably the scariest in the series, ON TOP OF THAT, IT HAS THE BEST OST IN THE SERIES.

But it's a smidge too short and the fact it has TWO bosses kinda sucks.

The game kind of suffers when it becomes a long tedious escort mission during the 2nd half, and I'm sure that is what turns most people off. But it has a nice creepy story, atmosphere and challenging enough gameplay that I think it deserves to be considered as classic as the first 3 Silent Hill games.

The final boss in 4 trumps the final bosses in the previous two games since they're so bland in terms of gameplay

I love it. It's still a pre-Western devs Silent Hill game which puts it leagues ahead of the majority of games I've played.

But it's obvious why someone would have contempt for The Room. The second half of the game being an escort quest through locations you've been through, the inventory system, the ghosts, the fucking escalator, odd sound design w. the monsters (burping nurses, awful wild cat noises for dogs.) Henry being a total bore and not actually ever going to Silent Hill. I think a lot of those ad to the games charm but I can see why people would fucking hate it for those reasons as well.

4 is pretty jank overall but its still pretty good.

It's not that bad, it just did not live up to the glory of 1-3; but I will tell you this, it's far fucking bettet than any other silent hill not made by team silent.

I really liked The Room, it was one of the only Silent Hill games that actually made me disturbed and not wanting to play it anymore because it felt "heavy" in some way.

I think that the sound design played a huge portion on that and the hauntings on your apartment really made me uneasy.

The burping ghosts, out of synch/mechanical sounds made it really disturbing for me, I still feel strange when watching the intro.
