What restricts the day/night cycle in video games from being a full 24 hours?

Pokemon does it

Good game design
I want games to do 18-20 hour day/night cycles so that time still passes by slowly but you don't have to wake up at 4 AM to experience in game 4 AM.

most games running on real time have sparser things at weird hours understanding that only the autistic are anal enough to need to fuck up their irl sleep cycle to play a game. Do you get upset you don't experience IRL at 4 am?

Animal crossing and pokemon did it.

weren't they just 24 hours but you can change the system clock
To clarify, I didn't mean the time in the game has to match up with the time in real life, just that it would take 24 hours in game for a day to pass. If you paused and then left and came back an hour later, the time in game would still be the same as when you paused it.

4 am nature walks are comfy

How many games (that aren't online pew pew shooters, mobs or whatever) have you genuinely spent more than 50 hours playing?
Hard mode: No Fallout or TES
