Starbound feels like it has no actual progression at all.
All weps are the same weps outside of numbers and what right click does, and right click has barely any variation. Armor is just numbers. The digging thing is just numbers. Enemies only really change in stats. The worlds just force you to +1 your thing to visit them and that's it they are now numbers aside exactly the same as the first planet you visited.
Its really pretty, I actually liked making my base look nice in this while in Terraria it was a chore. That's really all it has going for it. I didn't even finish the story, which was just a glorified fetch quest where to 'fetch' the items you scan them like its Metroid Prime if Metroid Prime was a really bad game.

Terraria beats it in basically every aspect. Despite having no story it beats it in story because Starbounds story actively harmed the game.

I really, really wish Terraria would upgrade sprites to bit better res. Or just fucking release that Otherworld already.

terraria, even back at its launch, was better than starbound is now. even those 14 years or whatever of "development" didn't get it to terraria's base level.
