I started with the first earlier this year. If you can get past the awful controls (and the magic, Lara-seeking bullets in the second game), you'll probably enjoy them. Otherwise start with Legend if you want to see something closer to what Tomb Raider used to be before it changed completely (not that I dislike the new ones. I tried the PC version of the first game not long ago, but I had issues with the patch that inserts the PSX music and the extra levels. Every time I used that patch, it'd certainly work, but the game would be locked to a tiny 640x480 window (or something like that). Even when I changed the res and try to go fullscreen it wouldn't actually change anything. The game would act like it was in full screen (I'd have to alt-tab out), but the window wouldn't get any bigger.

I think so. This is something I tried a couple months ago, don't have it installed right now, but I'll try again later. All I remember doing is installing nglide, changing the resolution in there I think, and it worked perfectly. Full screen, 1920x1080. It was only after installing unfinished business that I was locked to a tiny window no matter what I did with resolution settings in cfg files or nglide.

That's a great idea, the player character could have been a Tomb Raider with enough talent to get noticed by Lara. Eventually you go to her estate and look at everything she took in the original games.

She gives the main character a proposition to work for her as she sends you all around the world trying to find things she never got round to do. For me it's a tie between Legend Lara and Underworld Lara.
I think Legend Lara is actualy hotter, but those outfits in Underworls are among the most powerful shit I've seen in a non porn game.

Those games are a fucking buggy mess, but the models and the animations do things to me.
It's a very similar kick I get out of porn games, but with a much higher production value by comparison, so the bugs don't bother me as much.

Also, it's fun to raid some tombs. I think the older games had more interesting levels, but the clunkyness of those is too much for me, sadly.
That's why I'd say Anniversary is the best game in the series.
