I can't comment on the giveaways, so I'll take your word on it. In regards to paid reviews, I wish I could find that series of Twitter screencaps from some former reviewer. He confirmed that paid reviews do exist, but that Nintendo was one of the least concerned about scores.
Granted, I believe that was back in 2012, and it may have changed back then. But as far as I know, it's the only confirmed information we have regarding Nintendo and paid reviews, rather than just speculation and conjecture.
That doesn't mean I don't think Nintendo scores are somewhat inflated sometimes, but that's more in regards to consumer hype.
