i always felt like mechas as a concept was extremely hypermasculine and thus incredibly homosexually charged as a result. the chassis of the mechas mirroring chiseled physiques of muscle bound bodybuilders is something that can be likened to bara works or Tom of Finland illustrations, but done so in a way to mask the viewers latent homo urges without fear of persecution of their desires. what do you guys think?

Harmony Gold's lawsuits are all basically bullshit easily seen through and actually taking them to court results in the case being thrown out. Hasbro just won vs them a few years ago. It's a tough brick with PPCs. The best upgrade they could think of after 200-300 years after the base configuration's debut was to glue another PPC to it.

Not as flashy as a Battlemaster or as deadly as a Timberwolf/Mad Cat, but it's reliable and good at what it does.

it's a real estate company that bought out the rights to Macross and sold it as Robotech back in the eighties, and due to a quirk in copyright law back then people outside of the US weren't capable of holding copyright (no longer the case but they act like it)

so they've sued everything mechwarrior/battletech related for 30+ years because they originally licensed the likeness rights of some of the mechs from the japanese instead of them

It's not just battletech, back in the 90s they cockblocked Bandai from bringing over Macross Plus games and toys.

I played it on a demo disc of upcoming games and even had this shit preorded when Harmony Gold stepped in and stopped it. Fuck those guys. Seriously fuck them.

HG bought the rights to multiple shows from Tatsunoko in the 80s and subsequently acted as though this game them full rights to the intellectual property of those series. Subsequently it was determined in Japanese courts that Tatsunoko owns copyright and merchandising rights for the original SDF Macross show but Studio Nue owns the creative IP like character and robot designs (and the right to make sequels), so HG should have no actual claim to them but nobody feels like going to US court over it because anime and Battletech are small markets.

Periodically the Battletech people get brave about bringing back Macross designs and/or more Macross-like redesigns instead of their putrid replacement designs and eventually HG starts threatening legal action and they decide it's not worth the expense in part because FASA's originally acquired those designs in some ass backwards deal themselves. The Japanese version of Battletech used brand new Studio Nue designs though.
