The ability to switch between towns with a plane. You have your starting village and eventually get to visit four others that represent different regions of the world geography. You're free to spruce up these towns a little, I guess. It would also be neat if there's exclusive villager types to these alternate towns (chance of walrus villagers in the Artic, for instance).

If you ask me they should add a full blown town building mechanic.

Maybe even add a small open world aground the town that you can explore together whit the villagers. (No combat just exploration)

And if you are too shit at city building you can let some new character do it for you.

Do you guys remember a screenshot playthrough that was something of a mystery story or something? I know they played an AC game, but I can't remember much beyond it.

Nah, imo the series' choice to never give players typical videogame omnipotence is one of the best & most unique things about it. A much larger world you did not have control over would be amazing.

Especially if we got randomly generated details to explore. Like an abandoned house hidden away at the edge of a field.

More interactivity with furniture and objects, being able to do things like cook or eat, minigames, being able to form actual friendships with non-villager characters, more customization options to let your town actually feel like a town (actual roads, etc.)
