Do any actual consumers use Itch.io, or is it just a circlejerk between indie game developers?
Never seen that site before, thoroughly apathetic towards it anyway so even if I had I don't think I'd be a user.
right now it's mostly the latter

Same here. I only found out about Itch.io after I started developing games myself, which is why I got the strong suspicion that actual consumers don't use the site.

AGDG sometimes talks about this. Said they might get around 10 or less sales a month. It's a good place to host demos or show a proof of concept idea. I think kids play the HTML and Unity webgames a lot.

I've never bought anything from there but I have played some of the freeware games available from there.
PC Gamer's long-running "free games of the week" column often links to games on this site. I've downloaded a few.
This one is neat:

Yeah lmao nobody actually ever played a game.
Judging by that page, Kass is some Japanese dude who barely knows English and probably wouldn't post here.
