It was just awful timing on Capcoms part desu. Abigail is fine, but they shouldn't have revealed him at Evo, or at least not him alone. The backlash is mostly from all the other companies having hype reveals, and then Capcom shows off Abigail driving an imaginary car.

To be fair they had announced last year with Akuma that everyone else would be a new character or a character that's never been in an SF. They've been revealing characters at majors since SFV was announced too.

It wasn't really bad timing, more like bad luck.

The irony of course is if Capcom had announced literally anyone like Fei Long, the twins, Elena, Sakura, Q, etc. it would have decimated the other announcements.

Being a Tekken player I find it more sad that the only big announcements Tekken has these days are guests from other games. While it was cool it also carries the connotations that no one actually cares about Tekken.
