Soldier is the easiest class to play. Sniper and Spy aren't good for beginners. Stock weapons are always the best. Capture the Flag is cancer, try Payload.

Play Scout, Soldier, or Pyro. Pick Soldier if you can't make up your mind.

If you want to be passive and maybe just sit back and watch, play Medic, but be prepared to get yelled at for not being good, even on pubs.

You can also play Engi if you want to "Sit back" but have fun getting your shit pushed in and dealing with a system that can be a LITTLE hard to understand (At least past a fundemental concept) on a basic level.

When I started, I found Scout a lot easier than Soldier because your mobility isn't gated by learning to rocket jump. If you've played an FPS before, you already have most of the skills you need to be an effective scout. Plus, the stock scout loadout is better than soldier's.

I think most new players are new to pc gaming in general, soldier is easier to kill enemies with. But if they're already experienced with shooters then Scout and Sniper would probably be better yeah.
