I used to play my 3DS in between breaks at uni. I don't anymore because my classmates always bug me asking if they can borrow it to play Mario Kart and Pokemon.

I work as a teaching assistant at uni and regularly meet up with students to help with essay questions. Usually I use my DS as a clock to keep track of appointments and play during breaks. Maybe it's my position of authority in that situation, but I never heard anything negative. Girls for some reason often tell me they found it both cute and cool that I use my DS as a clock while guys are more prone to ask what I'm playing/if I'm playing Pokémon and usually react embarrassed when they have no idea what I'm actually playing.

I still remember 4th Grade when Pokemon Red and Blue were still hot. There was at least five other people in my class that I'd trade and battle against. Fast forward to high school I mostly kept to myself and my GBA/DS. People would look over my shoulder occasionally but that's about it. In college there was video games everywhere, also back into Pokemon as a result. Nowadays I only show my handhelds in public if I deem it appropriate to my location.
