You can find dismissed party members in the Shrine of the Raptor, in the room with the sarcophagi, and recruit them into your party again. Who gives a fuck? The name is just retarded on it's own and from some reading over the origin of the term and games it encompasses, it's honestly a very poorly defined term.

From what I have gathered, the term applies to any RPG where the party moves as one (like a blob) and positioning either doesn't matter or can't be changed by direct player control, which according to the threads I've read, apparently applies to games like Chrono Trigger and pretty much every Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. That is retarded and doesn't make much sense. They try to tie it to battle mechanics even in places where the battle system goes against the idea of the party moving and acting like a blob. Why does it somehow apply to games where positioning still matters, regardless of if the player can't manually manipulate it. Not to mention, when the ability for the enemy to choose specific targets is a thing, it still doesn't make much sense.

Basically, it's a moronic term that only really takes into account the fact that the party moves as one which really applies to well over half of the RPG genre, despite the more important mechanics of the battle system. How does such a blanket term make any sense?

Dungeon Crawling RPGs makes far more sense and more accurately describes the specific subgenre of RPG genre. "Blobbers" is just an extremely ill-defined and loose fitting term that describes the bulk of the genre and thus relegates every varying type within that subgenre into a sub-subgenre. That's just unnecessary.

Thanks for the spoilers, asshole. The full game is basically the same with a bit more polish on it (more stuff to find) and less crashing. Also it's a full version of the demo, hopefully. I never made it past the first town years ago and the saves aren't compatible.

Okay, so I want to have a serious discussion with all of you because I feel that I won't be able to for much longer. The game is out now, it's terrible, and in a week or two these threads won't generate more than 20 or so pity bumps at best, even with all the lame Cleve memes.

I never waited 20 years for the game because it rarely received coverage during the 90s. I'm in my mid 30s and can faintly remember seeing possibly one article about it but I'm not even sure if I am remembering correctly since I was so young. I'm taking the game for what it is since I only learned about Cleve and the memes a month or so ago and I can see a lot of potential here. Grimwah reminds me of the old dungeon crawlers I used to play during my childhood and my only complaint is there there isn't a fucking manual. I have no idea why you're so mad.

It's fucking garbage. I pirated that shit and I'm so glad I didn't waste a single dime on it.

First off, the graphics just plain look shitty. It looks like a deviant art furry drew all of the pictures and backgrounds using 256 color palette. The adventure window is TINY. The grass and flowers look like barf. Turning just looks weird in the way that Cleve programmed it, etc. Second, the sound is horrendous. It's loud, obnoxious, the music is repetitive and not interesting to begin with, all of the sound effects are the same way. Holy shit, aesthetically it's a mess.

Third, and finally, the gameplay is awful. Even on the lowest settings, battles take FOREVER, and monsters have a good chance to kill your party. Encounters can spawn even while you're fucking TURNING. Battle, using items, pretty much everything about the user interface and how to interact with the world is insanely confusing for no reason. There is no manual. There are no tutorials. The identification function is outright laughable (I can understand not knowing what the name of a vicious bug monster is, but calling Rats "?SQUIRRELS?" because you didn't identify them? What the fuck?)

It's a huge mess, and honestly, I don't think anyone was expecting any different.

It's derivative and uninspired. Eyes do not drink except in a metaphorical sense, and in this the imagery he hopes to conjure falls flat. He's using the second person perspective, telling me what my eyes are doing. This is clumsy enough on its own. But on top of this he is attempting to tell, not show (in prose or through the use of the visual means of computer graphics) that I am beholding a grand, awe-inspiring mountain range -- I'm sorry, ranges. I am not. He would have done much better to go with less flowery and more succinct language, "Before you is a vast expanse of awesome mountain ranges." Awesome is unnecessary here as well, there is no need to tell the player how he feels. It is bad writing. A good writer would evoke a sense of awe for the mountains through descriptive text, he doesn't flat out tell you, "These mountains are awesome." The fact that you faggots fail to comprehend this and are so butthurt over that image is fucking hilarious. Keep suggesting that I read more. LMAO
