Man I really want to get the jap version. I can't read runes that well yet but I can see myself getting into this without understanding much.

When FF7 came out I was 7 years old at the time and I couldn't quite understand english yet but I still kinda understood what was going on in that game because of how expressive the character models and their animations in that game were.

Thinking back it was probably a way better experience because I didn't understand most of the text.

Playing dragon warrior monsters 2 rn and it's so addictive. It's reminding me of DQ8 with how exploration is handled, the game lets me go all over the place and fight bosses early and challenge bosses 20 levels over me. The past 2 worlds every time I enter a village I'm finished whatever quest they were going to send me on and it gives me custom dialogue for doing it myself. Would recommend highly to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

dragon quest is one of the most overrated franchises on this board

is it the anime character styles that you guys like or something because the gameplay is shite and the story is bland

It was a lot more memorable for 7 year old me at least.
Think about getting immersed in a world where you can't understand most things these npcs are saying. I remember it feeling like an adventure.

I also eventually learned most of my english through video games since most video games didn't get translations here and those that did were some EA published games aimed at small kids.
