You can make a caravan, load up all your stuff and move around the world map. It's good for abandoning failing colonies, trading and attacking raiders.
I'm attempting to refund this game after 8 hours played, most of which was spent trying to find ways to make the game fun.

If you live in a mtn it can be a kind of cozy homebody situation for the first season or so... but then you have to send bob the expendable trash colonist with two peg legs out to get whatever crops didnt die so you dont starve to death, and it becomes agonizingly boring, yeah.

Glitterworld Tech adds too many resources and crafting tables.
Combat Extended is neat for early game, but mechanoids are absurdly strong once they come.
Infused might be overpowered with CE.

It's not too terrible, but it is annoying as fuck if you have livestock. You have to move them all indoors and feed them from your normal food supply manually. I guess crops are a problem too if you don't have a greenhouse, but I usually grab hydroponics pretty quick just because it generates such a massive quantity of food for so little effort, especially because they cut down on travel distance.

Toxic Fallout is nothing. You should be building your base for the eventuallity of it to begin with. Looks like your base is easy enough to make safe. Covering outdoor walking paths with roofs; restricting colonists to those paths and indoors, while rotating colonists for outdoor work as needed (growers, hunting, etc); animals can be tough if you have lots, but hopefully you planed ahead and built an indoor space for them, but you could always put them in the same zone as your colonists too. It's easy mode if you scaled your population up along with your ability to produce food using only indoor methods and you built into a mountain (let those miners work on that). Getting indoor growing researched as quickly as possible is important for this very reason, even if you don't use them (power reqs are high) until the toxic fallout starts (prioritize power for indoor growing).
This game becomes a bore too soon though. Too easy to coast once you have your base walled off and a decent trap system set up. They should really try to improve the AI's improvement over time to give the player reason to progress quickly. The AI should also build up their research and continually get better and better tech. Maybe some kind of system for setting up long range balistics or sats would be a cool way to open the map up a bit without travel.

mods and different start locations make the game fun to replay, a lot of different scenario mods out there that shake up the game, the new Ultimate Survival mod is a pretty fun one.
It's a lot like Dorf in that respect
I love this game but I'm too autistic to play it. I spend way too much time planning my playthrough out and using prepare-carefully that I give up before actually getting into playing the game

Hardcore SK deals with this lack of progression somewhat by its massive amount of factions. First two years or so you get raided by tribals and raiders with pistols or submachine guns, then assault rifles and tac vests, eventually going up to shielded power armor and Terminators with shit tons of regenerating HP.
There's also supposedly the Zeon event that is described as a "you lose" boss but I haven't gotten it in 5 years at which point I had already sent my colonists into space.
