It is quite a solid beat em up; the characters are quirky as fuck, the plot is pants on head retarded, but somehow it makes a fun package. It is made with ragdoll mechanics set to the max since that shit was groundbreaking back then, but if that isn't an issue to you then it's fine.

When his sister died he made a robot in her likeness, then for no reason he abandons the robot, then when you choose the hardest difficulty possible Mikado gets a 4th round in his final boss, admiting himself how utterly meaningless that was and now he just wants a good fight, awesome.

Is this an anime game that are known and at the exact same time unknown thread?
>>
>>386183475
Not really branching paths, more like choosing who you want to play as in certain parts of the game, that allows you to see different sides of the story and know more about the character you are playing as.
>>
>Kou was there to spy on everyone
>He was given a full body tattoo to fucking blend in
>Sion just started a fight and got the same job
>>
>>386183475
Not that many. You can choose one of the three characters, and they have (a few) unique battles. For example, only one of the characters will help the girl escape, while the other two will go through another path.

Also, if you defeat the final boss three times, there'll be a surprise.
He'll take his shirt off, and say he doesn't care about the plan anymore, he just wants a good fight.
>>
>>386183475
Oh yeah. Story had tons of secret paths to get all the characters
>>
>>386183650
No, now you are making a huge leap here, The Bouncer is a solid beat em up in the standards set in the Arcade era till the PSX days, God Hand is an entire new standard being set.
>>
>>386183650
No, it's more like Tekken Force (the Tekken 3 minigame).

>>386183602
That final round happens if you defeat the final boss three times (I don't remember if it's with one character each).

I think another game that did this was the first TMNT game on the PS2. If you defeated Shredder with every character, he would take his armor off and fight as Oroku Saki.
>>
>>386183248
If you like kicking robots, then this game is for you.
>>
>>386183435
The issue is that Mikado literally became the most influencial man on the country (or planet, I forgot) in the game's setting to pull that off, why the hell got that far to blow a hospital?
>>

>>

>>
>>386184308
The game was made in 2000 dude, quite literally the first Squaresoft game on the PS2, it might as well have been a tech demo to see if they could handle the then new console, not much was given into its development.

I think what you're seeing is just that Nomura tends to use pretty similar designs for the same purposes. They're both typical Nomura main characters from the same era, so they both look like typical Nomura main characters from the same era. You can see how his idea for main character design slightly and gradually changes as he furthers his career with the kid from TWEWY, who also has similarities to Sora.
>>
>>386181986
You know, the real lack of Rule 34 for this series makes my penis sad.
>>
>>386183112
That was only the first step off his master plan. Dauragon wanted to basically rule the world and blew up the hospital as a demonstration of what he was capable of, AND out of revenge.

It was 2000 dude, people only wanted to know when FFX was coming up, The Bouncer was then the first Squaresoft game released for the PS2, not many wanted the company that had only been releasing RPG gems till to then, to release another oddball like Ergheiz that you either love it or hate it.

i dunno, there's a wider disconnect between cloud to squall to sion, then sora just looks like they took sion, adapted his colors slightly to account for sora needing to evoke mickey mouse, then aged him down and drew him in a cartoonier art style. tidus' oddly asian face and feathered blond hair also don't really match up with sion or sora

I didn't finish the game and don't think it was that good. But a lot of it's ideas I feel were ahead of it's time. The idea of having so much variation in the gameplay, and a cinematic (if roughly so) approach to everything would probably do a lot better with modern tech.

There's motor mayhem which was basically twisted metal until twisted metal black itself came out. Game's a lot of fun, has hidden special button input supers for each character and some unlockable characters, and a mode which lets you decide what items spawn on what maps. I've seriously never seen anyone on /v/ talk about motor mayhem yet it is one of my favorite ps2 classics. Give it a shot if you want some more vehicle combat in your life. Every level has a destructible part to it, and there is visible damage on the vehicles.

The most annoying thing about this game is that it's all but impossible to play on an emulator unless you have a pad that has pressure-sensitive buttons.

The strength of the button you press determines if you get light or heavy attacks, it's fucking dumb and very awkward to work around. Not really worth doing so in any case because it's not a very good game.

Billy Hatcher is particularly obscure because it was only released as a budget title in Europe. It's pretty much unknown so nobody's bothered to try and fix any issues (for example it doesn't even have a widescreen patch) which I'm certain would've been done if it had a wider release like SADX 2004

There's gotta be a reason for that. I think there was some stat building involved. If you mained a certain guy throughout the game only he was going to get the experience so later on if you tried using anyone else as the enemies got stronger you were going to get it up the ass.

I got this game thinking it was gonna be like final fantasy

I was wrong but it was a pretty weird and memorable game anyway. Objectively it was pretty bad, but the graphics really stood out for the time and I still ended up doing a lot of playthroughs (most likely because I was a kid with a nogamestation2). I just remember mashing the same special abilities over and over again and winning pretty easily, I got my ass handed to me before that.

Sony was hyping up The Order as one of their dozens of new IPs for the PS4, but no one remembers it because it's a boring 3rd person shooter with quicktime events.
Before the game came out there was a lot of hubbub over the fact that the devs straight up said they think story is more important than gameplay.

Ryse was a launch game for the Xbone and was supposed to be exclusive, but later Crytek released it on Steam. It also has a shitton of QTEs.

Both games have pretty low metacritic scores, so not even reviewers really liked either game.

On the same note I think Z on the 360 is one of the most underrated and underappreciated games out there.

Tenchu in general needs more love, I hope Fromsoft takes another crack at it now that Dark Souls is done. Tenchu and Armored Core are both kind of at the perfect stage in their life cycle to get rebooted, really.

That aside, there's this weird style of character design happening here that you just don't see anymore. Like it reeks of 90s and the ps1 (tekken?) but also kind of foreshadows the shift to photorealism that was on its way. I could almost see a western character designer making that today.

It might be mine too, though it's generally really easy. For the most part you can run up behind lone enemies as loud as you want and press the kill button. I easily beat the game with my health set to minimum and not using any items just because running around with the sword was so effective.

I do like that it predates a lot of stealth game design trends but still implements them well (nonlethal takedowns, optional combat builds, etc.)

It's the little things though, like silencing your jumps and having your sword drawn compromising your camouflage.
>>
>>386205869
The point I'm telling you to make by telling you to FUCKING READ is that you read pantomime as the verb instead of pantomime as the noun, where pantomime (the noun) means a farcical derivative of early continental theatre translated for English as pantomime (the noun) because of its traditional use of pantomime (the verb) in its original creation before it was brought to England. The fact that we're talking about pantomime (the noun) is literally stated in the first line of the fucking wikipedia article, and if you continued to fucking read you'd see that tight/undersized clothing for the male main character (played a woman) is a tradition of pantomime (the noun), at which you'd understand what the original point of the FUCKING JOKE WAS.

>Starring Tidus from the Final Fantasy series

>>386207270
I'm sorry, I'll do an explanation for this joke too.
See, the joke here is that post as a verb is derived from post as a publicly displayed message, which is in turn derived from a long stake of would put upright into the ground; usually to display something such as a sign or a message publicly.
Board is a shortened form of message board as in a place where a group of publicly displayed messages or "posts" can be seen, derived from a literal message board that was typically constructed of a flat sheet of cork which messages would be affixed or "posted" to in a place which could be seen in a space where a group of people would occupy such as a work or meeting place; the use of "board" here comes from the similarity in shape to a board, which is a large and flat piece of lumber.
Now, both message board and post in the modern electronic sense derive their meanings from wood, and both are more recent developments of language than the word pantomime (as a noun). The joke is that neither would be confusing to you despite the earlier stated circumstances, even though the present situation involved your struggle to understand pantomime (the noun) which is in a literal sense the same. Additionally, part of a joke is its delivery, so closing the entire statement with such a brief dismissal as "made of wood" would be considered humorous because it's 'pithy' meaning forcefully brief and 'curt' meaning abrupt.
Hope that's cleared everything up for you.

>>386208461
I'll offer yet another explanation, because I don't believe you're quite so good at grasping subtlety.
The post (as in the electronic message) explaining the joke was, in itself, a joke: it's known as "metahumour", where it isn't about it's literal content and instead derives humour from the form of that content. In this case, the original joke was an easily understood situational play on words, so an explanation was unnecessary. The action of explaining what doesn't need to be explained becomes itself the joke, and the humour is found in the length and breadth with which it unnecessarily explains things that you already understand.

As you've also probably picked up on, it also serves to offer a sense of "belittlement": because the cause was originally your lack of understanding or willingness to understand without being literally told the meaning at length, it has created a situation in which continuing to offer these explanations implies you need them, implies you're some kind of simpleton. The fact that the meaning is obvious to you from square one is in fact the point. It also makes you aware that, long after the actual discussion has ended, you continue to reply when a reasonable person would've admitted they were wrong and that they'd misunderstood; or when a less reasonably but more typical and still sensible person simply would've stopped posting when he realized his point didn't have merit.

DAURAGON C. MIKADO

Nice little 90s action movie plot overall with some coocky villains, skill trees and leveling which add to the replay value, plus juggling and stringing together your own homemade combos to break the game, and reminiscent of a time when Square would "beta-test" systems and concepts before going balls to the wall and trying (and failing) to put up a AAA blockbuster as a launch title.

Lots of unlockables too. Unlocking Black-hooded Sion in survival mode still is one of the most fun challenges I've had in a beat-em-up

>>
>>386210528
And, continuing, the only reason not to be the reasonable or the sensible person is some perceived need of "getting the last word in" as if a discussion is some sort of treacherous, backstabbing battle. Such an outlook is a poisonous one adopted by people who don't wish to admit being wrong, being "the loser". Of course, without this sort of outlook, one doesn't care about being some sort of victor and instead can only choose to continue the discussion on their own terms, for example to provide themselves amusement that someone would continue to respond in such a manner earlier described even when every time it's met with the same overly wordy dismissive nonsense that it was met with previously.

Of course, as the trouble is whenever the goal is filibuster, you eventually run out of things to say. When filibuster is used in American politics, I've heard though not experienced, they usually resort to speaking off the top of their head with anything they can tangentially relate to the topic. For example, I believe the classic American film "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" involves the use of filibuster in its literal, political sense (as the movie is themed around American politics)

Back on the subject of the "last word", it typically devolves into insults as it continues, such as "autistic". Related to autism, the Sally-Anne test of 'mindblindness' was formulated by English psychologist Simon Baron-Cohen. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he's related to the famous Sacha Baron-Cohen of Ali G and Borat, as well as the slightly less famous filmmaker Ash Baron-Cohen and composer Erran Baron-Cohen. All in all, they're quite a talented family.

Another common insult is to mention bringing shame upon your family, as familial honour is one of the few things common across all cultures. Most people don't understand quite how different world cultures are; how for example suicide can be such a terrible thing to do in the western world that being executed for child murder and repenting is more acceptable morally (a practice known as "murder-suicide") whilst being the standard way of reclaiming lost dignity and fulfilling ones duty to society in the east.

Pretty much.
Pic related is the real Margarette, while the one you meet in the past is the real Dana, who's dad is the old fart trying to kill you in some parts of the game because he thinks it'll return his daughter who was spirited away by Homunculus after the mother was shot in a completely unrelated act. Though even when returned to her proper time, Dana never rejoins her birth family, probably never even found out about them. Marge, on the other hand, does get adopted by the old man (and his wife if you save her) in the best ending.
>>
>>386216237
it's surprisingly straightforward when you put it like that, but why did homunculus switch them to begin with
>>
>>386216462
Apparently, to ensure that Eike would arrive in the proper time, the switch was necessary to give Eike an era to home in on. I don't think the game ever says it, but apparently by being near Dana in the park and opting to travel back in time instead of doing something to avoid getting stabbed by the little faggot hiding behind the tree, it caused the digipad to warp them to the 16th century. Eike was still able to return to the present day since he's alive all the way to then, and being able to return to the 16th century was probably a "save feature" of the device.

Though I think it had something to do with how the games based the paths off things like the temperament of the Digimon and how they were treated prior to gaining an evolution.

The Order actually looks pretty damn good for its 4 hours
>>
>>386195191
Order was pretty gud setting wise but way to short(especially if you got suckered into paying 60 bucks for it, which is where a lot of anger for it comes from)

I honestly wouldn't mind if they did go ahead and make a real full length game out of the IP

Don't forget the QTE nonsense. While I personally don't mind them in some instances (God of War being the one that used them a great deal), it did get annoying how some of the fights boiled down to such things when you could have been just pressing buttons to brawl or shoot. Didn't help that they also recycled the first boss into the last one, with hardly any difference.

KOU LEIFOH will always be my main.
Square Enix needs to revamp this game up with a bigger story, Multiplayer bouts and loads more characters to play as
Playing as Cyborg Dominque is quite nice

His most famous role was Spike in Cowboy Bebop.
>>
>>386225104
Well yea aside from stating the obvious roles that was a major jump start to his voice career.

Hasn't he been in the industry lately? I haven't heard much of the man.
>>
>>386225104
Spike Spiegl would've been a better character if he didn't smoke and had instead a pocky in his mouth all the time.

I hate myself. I went to a seccond hand store a few years ago and there was a whole bunch of snes games in the box, and I was gonna get this and link between worlds and some kid got it first.
he was even willing to trade with me, but I didn't have a snes at the time. I regret that to this day.
