This. You need designs to fuel stable porn on the side so you can fuel your hardcore fanbase. It's really kinda sad that a series that has lots of porn often correlates with a large fanbase and a healthy following.

As someone who finds the series alright they screwed themselves over by releasing so many games and Watches in such a short timespan which completely wore people down. The first game itself was also not that great for casual gamers. The befriending rate on Yokai is so incredibly low, there's tons of hidden mechanics to deal with, you need very specific types of teams for certain bosses, the EXP rate is disgusting low, and the Crank-a-Kai is a middle finger to everyone, especially with the limit. They also have way way way too many recolors and reskins. If you think Digimon has too many I'm pretty sure some of the Yokai outnumber Agumon reskins at this point

Jibanyan is fine as a mascot, it's the fact that 2 onward went completely stupid with the sheer amount of reskins for him. Some aren't even reskins, they just give him a hat or something and call him a new Jibanyan with no palette change.
