It triggers me because it's literally worse than Apple.

Seriously, think about Apple.
You have to pay a kidney to get one of their overpriced machines, but the moment you complete your purchase is the moment they leave you alone. They're fucking scared about you leaving them as a company, because they don't have MS monopoly so they have to make sure you'll spontaneously keep buying their shit. So you get a PC that's expected to last at least 8-9 years, while most Best Buy prebuilts start melting or having problems after 3-4 years. You know about PCs? Then stay away, but if you're illiterate, going with Apple is literally the safest bet (if you have money at least).
The current Os has a set of limitations that makes impossible to get problems by messing with the system; if you know what you're doing, you can always disable the limitations and get full control of it.
At that point, it's basically a Linux distro with nice aesthetic and comfy gestures.

With Microsoft it's not that easy. You'll get a system that keeps asking for money. Filled with ads, everywhere; even fucking Solitaire is asking you to pay for DLC.
A system that lacks old features while introducing new, useless ones. A system that keeps sending unspecified data to unspecified targets for unspecified reasons (remember that Apple got in deep shit with the FBI because they won't let them make a backdoor on their systems -unlike Google and MS).
Other than that, you get basically no assistance (while Apple customer support is basically sucking your dick, pun not intended), and a vulnerable system that isn't even automatically protected by their makers (while Apple releases daily free security upgrades to cover any new virus/malware/miner/botnet effecting os x).

Apple is anti-customer because most of its PCs are a pain in the ass to open, and they're way overpriced.
Microsoft is anti-customer because according to them, the moment you get on their system is the moment you start bending over.
>>
>>386152037
With Google everything is automated.
When Microsoft's software detects something they send an employee for a human review of the content.

Google only scans items on Google Drive that you share to the public.
Microsoft scans everything for illegal content (and reports you to the police) and content that breaks their policy such as nudity.

They piss away all their franchise potential hard and faster than anyone else. Xbox had so many neat IPs from both the west and east, but all got buried under Halo. 360 had fewer quality IPs, but MS did not pursue keeping them in the spotlight over Halo, Gears, and Forza.

And I think Xbone got the worst of it with things like Scalebound and Phantom Dust reboot being cancelled with too much suit interfernce and broken promises for Fable franchise and Crackdown 3. The current best game MS has put out this gen is Killer Instinct, and that shouldve been a dud by all means given it was made by Double Helix before being passed to Iron Galaxy. I dont hate them, but they sure make it hard for me to support them.

Yeah, I needed OS X for my job, so I had to ignore my hostility for Apple.

>I haven't had a bluescreen in over a decade, either, so I'm inclined to believe it's almost never the OS's fault anymore.

99% of the time it was drivers made by third parties that caused this. The reason nobody has had a blue screen in forever is because Microsoft kicked all drivers but video card drivers out of kernel mode a while back which means when they crash they don't take the OS with them. This also killed Creative's monopoly on audio hardware overnight so good job on that one, Microsoft.

Skyrim works out of the box on wine but the modding tools do not. I spent about 5 hours finding a solution and then created a virtual machine, pasted the skyrim folder to the virtual machine as a network folder and managed the mods in the VM. Was fun, I like tinkering.

PS2 isn't even considered hardcore. His point was that huegbox came out at the same time and caused all the problems he mentioned
>>
>>386154806

Again, it's wasn't really the OS, it was the hardware. Apple wasn't using Intel or AMD, they used the IBM PowerPC.

When people said "Media programs are better on Apple computers" what this actually meant was the programs were pretty much identical but the hardware in an Apple generally meant you got better performance that was probably not even going to be noticeable 99.9% of the time. It was kind of guessing anyway, the hardware between the two platforms was not directly comparable. I vaguely remember that after Apple made the transition to Intel and the hardware did become directly comparable the tiny performance advantage evaporated.

Basically, it used to be mostly bullshit fueled by Apple marketing and now it's pretty much completely bullshit fueled by Apple marketing.

It was undisputedly better a few years ago. Such programs just used to run like shit on Windows, and that's why the industry (graphics, designers, advertisers etc) started using Macs.

There's a reason the majority of them keep using Apple stuff to this day. Let's be honest: Windows is able to run Photoshop just as good as Os X right now.
Thing is, Apple started making their computers to appeal the graphic industry. For example, Macs already have the right, quality screen (in terms of color management) you need for print jobs ; other than that, Apple has deals with Wacom and other important graphics companies (providing all the professional support you can need).
That's not all. OS X provides a more comfortable environment to work with, especially if you're using graphic tablets and such (there's a huge support and focus on gestures, making a lot of stuff way faster and easier).
OS X is also more stable (very important in that kind of jobs); I still get weekly crashes on Windows, but it's much rarer on a Mac. OS X also comes with any driver pre-installed. You don't ever need to install drivers, because when a product gets released, Apple updates OS X to include its drivers. Everything (keyboards, printers and general hardware) works the moment you connect it, except stuff Apple didn't explicitly want (the Xbox one controller; still works with custom drivers). Most macs are also almost silent, which is a huge pro if you work in video/audio editing.

Apple environment also shared whatever you want, letting you work on several devices (tablet, pc, laptop) and switching in no time.
Apple is also always making deals with companies, so, having an advertising studio filled with iMacs can often be the cheapest choice. Not even joking.

While the operating system itself isn't able to actually run such graphical programs in a better way (not anymore at least), they're doing everything they can to make their PCs better for specific workplaces.

It's literally just Sonyfags. Go into a thread titled "Why did people buy an Xbox", "Why did people buy a Wii U" or any variant of that and you'll see a bunch of people posting answers and then they'll reply to it saying >but muh exclusive. Even just regular Wii U/Switch/Xbox threads get invaded with a bunch of yellow smiling men completely unprovoked.
An even better example, note how there were multiple CEMU threads in the catalog 24/7 when it could run BoTW, but when RSPC3 ran Demon Souls nobody cared?

Don't get me wrong, all of the fanbases banter each other here and there, but it's all lighthearted and fun while Sonydudes take it extremely seriously.
