This game is not shovelware. It's not a casual game. It's not trying to appeal to a wider audience to make more money by dumbing down to lowest common denominator. Coming from a society that has dumbed down everything to cater to them since the day they were born, many newbs will wonder what the fuss is all about. Grimoire is for elite connoisseurs of computer roleplaying games with very refined tastes. If you don't think a game like Grimoire is worth $1000, much less $40 then you probably are not a fan of these kinds of games. You are welcome to look on the Steam store, on GOG, on Humble Bundle or anywhere on the internet to find a similar game. You won't find it because it doesn't exist. Even the Wizardry titles are just pale shadows of Grimoire now, they are forerunners but Grimoire gets it all right. Grimoire is the gold standard for these sorts of games. People who believe this was going to be just another blobber will discover they were sorely mistaken. Grimoire is the first and possibly last game of this calibre, at least until Grimoire II arrives.

P.S. After what is likely an opening discount, Grimoire will never be discounted or put on sale ever again. You will never see Grimoire sold for $15 but in 8 years you might see it down to $20. In the meantime, I guess you won't be playing this game if you're not respectful enough to pay what it is worth as product. I am amazed at the shovelware people pay $50 for without thinking but believe because Grimoire has an old fashioned aesthetic it must be worth less that those titles. Neanderthals have an older aesthetic too ... 300 pounds of muscle, six foot tall with an 1800 cc brain and the ability to see in the dark. I don't know that this implies they were inferior to modern people.

Nah, the project was already on the verge of being cancelled before he was even hired.
He was one of the few competent people on that project, and according to Sirotek, managed to get out an E3 demo on time.
