They're okay at best. I'd say they start improving greatly from RB3 onwards, but that's as pointless as saying a game gets x hours in. The series is very much orientated around you liking the characters, so try it out if they peaked your interests. Otherwise, the gameplay alone isn't going to carry the rest.

I find combat to be very entertaining compared to many other JPRGs. Also you can make it Sanic fast.

They are decentgrinding JRPGs and actually have some really nice quality of life things in them. As an example you can skip every single animation in battle, no matter how short it is.

They aren't called "kusoge" or shit games for mere memes in the gaming community. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy them personally, but then again I haven't been giving a fuck about serious and AA+ games for years,
