>I need Ti'zo in my life
So does everyone my fellow Reader.
Also Moon Touched Girl is the best. I cried when i saw that my efforts of reuniting her with her friends in union were not in vain
Is it true you can only play as a woman in this game?

Nope, you can choose your gender. You can even choose "they" if you want to be a special snowflake gender

>>386120386
I hope you named herDae as well
I hesitated a lot on whether I should send her back. She seemed perfectly fine in the Downwarren. In the end Ileft Ti'zo, Bertrude, Pametha, and the Reader. Seemed like the perfect choice for me. Ti'zo and Bertrude are perfectly happy in the Downwarren, Pametha can stay with her sister, and the Reader can walk into the sunset for a new adventure with Sandra, who has now escaped from the Crystal. The only thing I felt shit about was Hedwyn getting depressed over me.
In the other thread >>386118424as if we can afford two threadssomeone found the sprites http://imgur.com/a/4tERf
>>386120832RhaeBut i think there is no reason to argue about her name and we should rather be happy that we can make that small choice for ourselves
>I hesitated a lot on whether I should send her back. She seemed perfectly fine in the Downwarren
So did i butWhen i saw her interactions with Almer i was hoping that i will be able to send Almer to the other side. When i had liberation rite against Fate i let them win.
I've also sent Ti'zo as he said that he always wanted to see Commonwealth and i also thought that it will be a nice boost of morale for people on the other side. Having made those 2 decisions i hesitated a bit,but did what i thought was the best and send her up in the last rite.
I felt kinda bad that i have separated sisters(yes,i've lost against the essence, never felt so shi*) but Sir Gilman, Bertrude, Pamitha,Volfred and myself(reader) seemed really fine to stay in the downside in the end.
>>386121510
Also I take back what I said about jodariel skipping legday
>>386121656
holy shit
>>386121540>Letting Sir Gilman stay
Grave mistake anon. Liberating Sir Gilman was one of the most satisfying liberation. That scene hit me really hard
>>386120832In the end I liberated both Ti'Zo and _ae (Kae in my game) because they seemed to be really close to each other. And as happy as she was in the Downside, that place IS a hellhole and she deserved better. I left Bertrude, Volfred and Pamitha in the downside,
though I wish I threw the fight against Dalbert (to send Almer up) and maybe Ignarius (he turned out to be way better than I expected). On another note, IS there a way to reunite Pamitha and Tamitha? I did make them fight in a rite and Tamitha did admit she loves her but in the endings she still lashed out against Pamitha. Is there a better ending or is that the best I can get?
>>386121935
ikr.
But i had to make a hard choice and it was made. But as he stayed in downside he learned some new things about honour and had chats with reader from time to time so i think it's not that bad after all
>>386122143I threw the fight against Fate and it was totally worth it,almost cried at the outcome and thus i could have _ae with her friends ti'zo and almer on the other side
>>386122143
>>386121540
I see a lot of peopleleaving Volfred. I thought sending him up was logical for the Plan to fully work, and I really like that he became the first minister of the new country. Plus, he could finally reconnect with Oralech, who I gave his twice-earned freedom back.
I like when a new game comes out, and people can make threads about it for a bit before shit posters come out of the woodworks. I havent even played this yet,but i guess i will now since you guys are having fun talking about it.
>>386122437
Sadly by the time you finish it, the shitposting will have already killed the threads
>>386122437
Actually, it was the exact opposite with Pyre. The day they came out the threads were flooded with "LOL VN" and "FUCKING SPORT GAME" shitposts. Then not even a day later it turned out that the game is actually fantastic, and the gameplay itself is very fun and has such a depth to it that it can potantially, and unironically be a competitive game. Shame they did not add Online multiplayer.
I really advise you to play it. I've loved the other Supergiant games as well, but Pyre took me compeltely by suprise, and it's easily my favourite out of the 3 games. Just finished it after 14h, and I'm already thinking of playing it again.
>>386122363I like Volfred and would ascend him if there was more room for it. However I don't think I'd ascend Betrude since she seems to be cool with the Downside and I don't want to separate her and Volfred. Not to mention I did the Oralech thing and since he stays in the Downside afterwards I wanted him and Volfred to reconcile. Not to mention I find the ending where he starts to educate the exiles of the Downside pretty good too.
>>386122363I left Volfred, Bertrude, and Moon Touched, kind of wished I had swapped Pamitha and Volfred, but I thought Hedwyn wouldn't meet his waifu if Pamitha wasn't there to help him.
>>386122761
>Shame they did not add Online multiplayer
Well they never worked with online components so they probably decided it's not worth the time/resources that can be put into the single-player experience. It was the same with Salt aand Sanctuary.
On another note, I honestly was blown away how good Pyre was. Even as someone who doesn't believe 10/10 'perfect' games exist, I would say Pyre really skirted the line.
>>386122813
>I thought Hedwyn wouldn't meet his waifu if Pamitha wasn't there to help him.
Spoiler for Hedwyn's end route:Even if you don't send Pamitha up, he seals the deal on the revolution by joining together with his bird waifu, and sealing the peace between their people.
>>386122873
For real though. Apart from the no-online multiplayer, my only gripe on the game is that the lore is dumped on you in a somewhat wierd and heavy way in the Book. Everything else is pretty much perfect for me. Story, world, art, music, gameplay, progression, depth, replayability, characters etc.
Anyone try it on the PS4? If so, how is it?
>>386122972Works aswell if u send tamitha up, but in a slightly violent way. She then becomes the air commander of the union
>>386123309
Runs perfectly fine for me. Although I feel like KB+M is superior for this game, since in harder battles, you need quick and precise movement for sprinting and throwing the orb
>>386123258
I know how you feel. I liked the lore behind Bastion and Transistor because it was built into the narration, but in Pyre you only really get an idea of the lore if you take time to read the book, which is a pain in the as considering how much there is to it.
Is there a more punchable character than this douchebag?
>You correctly guess the Stowaway's name
>You can understand Ti'Zo
>Later on you learn you can read thoughts
Fuckin' foreshadowing.
>>386123997I was hoping he'd turn out to be voiced by Conan O'Brien
>>386123794
The glaring difference that sets it above the other two for me is that Pyre actually has CHARACTERS. In Bastion and Transistor you were restricted to only the protag+narrarator duo, with a few very shallow side characters. Meanwhile the character roster of Pyre is god-tier, and made me care so much more about the story. The Liberation Rights were the hardest decisions I had to make in a long long time.

Kind of like why your fellow exiles never learn how to read besides having two literate companions and months and months of busy doing nothing.
>>386141360
Well one of Hedwyn's status bits is that he's practicing his letters so I guess they are learning somewhat? And to be fair being a Reader seems to be more than 'just knowing how to read'. Remember it's always called 'knowledge of the Old Ways'.

The game could have used a little more variety in the rites tho, like having a single pyre in the middle that keeps switching back and forth between yours and the adversary's or even isolated pyres that are based on orb control (quenching the enemy pyre while you hold it)
Also Hedwin could start spouting horns smewhere near the first liberation rite and growing each liberation rite that he missess since "many moons pass" between a liberation rite and the next

I kinda wish there was some non-canon NG+ where you could liberate as many people as you wanted, for a kind of golden ending.
Now I'm just trying to puzzle out the best way to go about leaving behind/liberating characters so that as many people as possible end up as happy as possible.

Welcome to Supergiant games. Best you can get is a bittersweet ending. And it's perfectly fine this way
>>386148095
So what's up with Archjustice?
Is he a divinity / non-human creature or what?
In the book of rites it is written that any reader that frees himself becomes the new "Voice".
So, what gives? He's a real person that projects his avatar into the rites or he's become a creature bound to it? Is (you) the reader going to become something bound to the rites now that they don't exist anymore?
>>386157569
I can agree with that, actually. The fact that you only have a limited amount of liberations making your choices carry weight is refreshing, since in most games your "choices" don't really matter at all.
I'm still having trouble deciding who to liberate and who not to on my second playtrough though. Especially since I kind of want to send the reader up to please my boy Hedwyn, and I maybe want to send Almer up as well so he can hook up with _Ae in the commonwealth.
>>386116570
Wish they would have let the player experience the Commonwealth side at the end, if not just for 20-30 minutes. Having a Fire Emblem-esque "look at this unit portrait at read about their postgame life" phase wasn't really fulfilling enough to me.
That being said, this is easily one of my top 3 games this year

I think it was stated at one point that it is his duty to watch and comment the rites. Also i think it is the highest position you can get in commonwealth .
And hey it is fantasy world and one guy talking directly to you from beyond is not a big deal

>>386158172
use spoiler tags guysYes, the Voice is always a previous reader elected to the position of Archjustice. They can temper with other Reader's minds the same way Volfred telephatically communicated with you. They basically sit on their asses in the Commonwealth and are bound to watch over the rites, but not interfere unless something gets majorly fucked up. Not even sure if they can interfere. Since the Rites have ended by the end of the game, and the Commonwealth has fallen, our Reader doesn't have to be bound to this position
Fun fact: If you liberate Volfred, the messenger imp tells you that the rebels had to bust him out, because the Commonwealth was already working on binding him to the Rites as the next Voice

>Apart from the no-online multiplayer, my only gripe on the game is that the lore is dumped on you in a somewhat wierd and heavy way in the Book.

>>386159980
By choose the next right i mean choose the location of the right, sorry for not being clear
>>386160208
it depends on who you want to fight in the next liberation rite, because if someone who got high standing who you don't want a chance at a liberation, you can go to their rite and fuck them up. So it just depends on if you want a specific team to get to the liberation rite or don't care at all who ends up at it.
So, what are the requirements to make the plan work out peacefully anyway? I'm assuming it's just liberating enough characters that are willing to work towards it. Would Almer count?
>>386159694
finish the game first before coming to these threads so that you don't get spoiled
>>386160774He does work toward the Liberation, yeah. I think you need to have the probability above a certain number. I had around 80% by the end, but I cannot be sure.

The organization that forms after the commonwealth is the commonwealth and you're the ancient scribes reincarnated over and over again?
>>386160201
Oblige is the verb form of "obligation," which means that you must do something, you promised to do something, or you're required to do something.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noblesse_oblige
It entered English through French, specifically because Norman French nobles ruled over England and had responsibilities to the peasants.
So not only is it "I'm supposed to serve the voice" but it's more serious like "You MUST serve the voice due to your role as Reader"

No, but is a repeating pattern, the scribes went to the downside, defeated their enemies and created a new city on the ashes of the last, based on acceptance forgiveness and trust.
They created the Commonwealth you the Union, but commonwealth generated classism which degenerated into the commonwealth we know now.
I ended up staying behind with Volfred, Bertrude, and best bird Ti'zo. My heart got crushed when I read that best boy Hedwyn couldn't let go of me.

Since when does basketball have equippable accessories, abilities unlocked on an EXP tree, imps that throw gold at you if you complete certain feats in a match, varying points scored beyond just 2/3 pointer distance, completing a circuit forces you to "fire" one of your players permanently, hitting enemies with ranged attacks and hockey-style plowing, so on and so forth?

The worst part is that 85% of that information is stuff you already know, so rereading the book is usually pointless.

basically everything up to the first major story event is an introduction to the mechanics - flying, tagging, sapling'ing, etc.
after that enemy ai gets way tougher, enemies come with their own masteries and talismans, and you're given the option to turn on the equivalent of limiters/idols to furthers selectively increase difficulty
if core gameplay doesn't grip you it doesn't grip you though

spoilers aheadwhile i really liked this game, there should have been enough rites to where you end up having only two, or only one. yeah, the book's rules wouldn't allow that, but you could've written the rules slightly differently and had the voice cheekily deflect that the last rites are clearly unfair. would've made for a more interesting final story arc imo and been hype as fuck
>>386188390IWe'd still be wrecking everyone with Max Level Bertrude.
>>386185668
You just know it's Celeste. Always calm and dignified and playing exactly by the rules; the moment the rites gave her a genuine excuse, or I daresay obligation, to rock out she must be the one to take it
>>386122327
One of my temptations for a replay is to let the Fate win every match.

>>386189139
I thought about that while reading the book as well. What if things played out more like Bastion, and instead of dealing with the rites your party was moving across the map hunting down the titans that shaped and corrupted the underside?
I really like what we got, but personally fighting through the underside mythology instead of just reading about it sounds pretty hype.

>>386189759
The entire story is shaped around every loss and victory you have and there's no real "bad" way to play. The game tries to make every story unique and always tells you to keep playing no matter what happens.
TLDR : Don't stress and just play, there is no "perfect" story even if you win 100% of your matches. Just enjoy the custom-made story.

The only real story-branch in the game imho is the last one you get to make. Most of the dialogue and all it's little quips will change slightly depending on what happened in the game and when. It's honestly pretty impressive.

Hey /v/, rip anon here. I finished uploading all of the songs not on the OST this morning. Thanks for all the kind words.

In this case, i really did buy just because its Supergiant. Every game they've made so far are stellar and each better than the last.
Pyre is no exception to the latter so far.

I did. They said something about the higher-ups either casting themselves back into exile or stepping down, but I don't remember anything about Brighton specifically.

>>386196479He's the Voice.
>>386196624
No one can slam as hard as a Nightwing.
>>386196710Did that specifically meant that he couldn't return to his physical form anymore?
I sort of thought that his overseeing of the rites was done from the comfort of the commonwealth, hence his willingness to keep it going.
You know, Barker would've made a pretty good Nightwing. He's more interested in being an obstacle for other triumvirates to face than getting out himself

>>386197360
jodi wants that big demon cock
>>386197021
No. He gets to be the arch judge in the Commonwealth, and he speaks to the Downside peasants as a voice. He probably used some kind of palantir.
just noticed that jodi's/hedwyn's/rukeys combined theme changes instruments based on which one is talking
this is noticeable at the start of the game but I didn't notice it until my second playthrough

>>386182458
Tariq perfectly embodies what I love about Supergiant's writing.
We don't have the specifics on Tariq and Celeste, their relationship and possible falling out, where they came from, how they relate to the scribes. This whole list of mystery behind the character.
All we really have is that Celeste and him have a history, and that he's something "else" from the rest of the people in the downside.
But none of that really matters, because at the end of the day what is important was that he was so touched/moved by the nightwings camaraderie that he became discontent with a tradition he had help to uphold for several centuries at this point. Ultimately motivating him to say fuck the scribes and focus on loving Celeste and his friends
>>386199073
I hope they didn't justfade away with the rites. I like the idea that they were finally free to do what they wanted after God knows how long.
>>386199297
Another beautiful part about supergiant leaving story elements open. They're together because I want them to be.
>>386200346
Same with how things turned out with Sandra.
>We know the truth, that's what matters.
So was Tariq just comatose in the blackwagon all those years before Volfred had it recovered?
>Fucking Dream Daddy outsold this glorious game
There is no justice in this world.
>>386201562
The right kind of marketing makes all the difference.
>>386201180
yes. there were no rites,so there was no use for tariq

I don't think the group was terribly shocked when he started moving again, but it did seem like he would just vegetate a lot before the plan picked up.
>>386189126

>>386189126
I guess I assumed it after hearing him in Bastion.

I think it's a shame we don't hear him more games/projects. He has a solid range.
>>386191778

>>386197360
pamitha kind of hints at it, but it's kind of hard to tell who's she's actually interested in since she seems to be coming on to absolutely everybody

I won't be reading this thread due to spoilers.
I purchased this game purely because I loved the hell out of Bastion and Transistor, especially the music.

Oh, man. I remember seeing that thread with "Did you free Sandra?" in the OP before finishing the game.
I was absolutely sure that I'll be able to save everyone, and Sandra will be available as playable character when everyone else is already liberated. Fuck this. Realization hit me way too hard.
>>386210829
well, now I'm confused. I'm looking through previous threads and can't seem to figure this out.
Could you somehow bring Sandra with you to the Commonwealth?

if you talk to sandra a bunch (i tried at every possible opportunity, but i think her dialogue options trigger initially on entering new areas and later on having new trials available - finish all the trials just to be sure) you get one final conclusive conversation later on
So I went a little autistic and wrote a list of competitive rules for a Pyre tournament I plan on hosting at my FGC's next local. Does this seem reasonable? Any stage changes I should make?https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-VQikRqD3XHm-LMp_HCxit5jorkjwc-siOfnZ2AMZLY
Can someone explain the lore to me?
I don't want to play the game yet.
>>386213280
>banned stages
>a little autistic
sure anon
Anons am I reading this wrong or Sandra is one of the most, if not the most badass/strong characters in the game?
Born and raised in a Sparta-amazon like society where the weak just die;
Traned to not accept failure;
Gets her eyes cut during a sword training with her mentor;
Still manages to survive and finish the training despite being blind;
Sent to the downside to kill a demonic god-emperor;
She would have succeeded if it were not for the scribes
(The scribes can just kill titans to make a companion)
The scribes made more powerful bindings just for her since she was the most dangerous of all the Sisters of the Arch;
And 800+ years later falls for you
>>386213280
>isle of khaylmer
most fun stage in the game but understandable ban, imps blocking off parts of the stage can get cumbersome
>glade of lu
is there a gimmick i'm not aware of here besides the encroaching vines?
also
>not banning sandra and messenger-imp
easy first picks
>>386213715
Why would Sandra have to be banned? What's so good about her apart from being best girl?
>>386211215
Yesjust before the last liberation rite she asks you if you are fine with her company and if so if you happen to not mind staying with her, you just take the sphere and hide it under your robes,
Ascending means that she too returns to the commonwealth
>>386213338

>>386213967
she's got those sick 4 masteries on preset, as does messenger-imp for some reason
i'd take faster team stamina recharge, faster movespeed while holding the orb, and instant respawn by moving over ally location over 5 pyre damage every day of the week
i mean by all means allow all characters to begin with but i just don't think hedwyn looks very good by comparison
>>386214381
Purgatory for what?

>>386213715
>Glade of Lu
No, but I wasn't a fan of the vines. They're more pervasive than, say, the light pillars in Fall of Soliam. There can be significantly more vines on one side of the screen than the other, which would present an inherent advantage/disadvantage.
>Sandra and Messenger-Imp
I'm hesitant to ban my waifu, but you're right. They're both super fucking good. I'm also slightly tempted to ban Sir Deluge

>prolonged exposure to the underworld warps his body into that of a demon
>various assassins sent to off the guy by the emperor's second find him collapsed and pitiful, end up defending him from other assassins
>seven of those assassins join him in a band of enlightened exiles
>band of exiles create a series of elaborate rite-games by which a worthy criminal (for those who are dumped into the underworld are criminals, by the law's standard or their own) may leave the underworld and find redemption back home
>you play as a new band of exiles seeking to take part in these rites

Thanks anon.Tariq and Celeste are the heralds of the Stars, representing the celestial bodies of Sun and Moon. Hence the Nightwings crescent moon symbol. When the rites conclude and they ascend back home like most others, they will never be able to hang out again. Also if you only free Tamitha and not Pamitha, the latter keeps sending spam without getting answers and then Tamithas epilogue says that she values those greatly and regrets never making amends with Pamitha
