It's probably alot of work to set up an emulator that has no games.

Demon's Souls was good, not great, but has a lot of shitty locations that mean I really don't want to go back and replay it. There's honestly nothing else on the system I'd like to go back to. It's genuinely the worst generation and I don't know why people act like it was a godsend. I got it with GT5 and LBP and it was a disappointment from day 1.

There were some OK games, but that was the entire extent of it.

I got two hours in and stopped. Mechanically it is a cluster fuck of ridiculous systems to make the game look like it plays one way when it actually plays another not to mention the awful crafting system, you can only hold like 3 of an item but there are hundreds of everything except blades. You are also made to think blades are even more valuable because they can be used to get out of the kill animation when a clicker grabs you which should be never, even though the mobile ones are tethered to you if you move out of the maximum range, and they can be used to open supply cache doors except there is no reason to ever spend a blade to get any supplies because the blade is the only bottle neck in crafting.

There was also at least 3 scripted events in the first 2 hours where clickers you should have been able to "see" using the listening mechanics where deliberately hidden to try to push the spooky narrative which begs the question why is the mechanic even in the game, the only answer I could figure is so you could see the clickers spawn then path a bit then despawn only to respawn in the same spot again when approaching one of the little boxes that the action sequences take place in.

Fucking terrible game. Maybe the story was good, I think zombies was already beaten to death at that point even if they are mushroom zombies, I didn't get to experience the story because the game was atrocious.

it's kind of weird that nobody knows that, since last year, you've been able to use a sony streaming service that basically renders a game on a remote ps3 and then streams the output to you. On PC. I played journey on it.

Accurately emulating the stuff Vesperia needs brings a i7 6k series to it's knees. Using workarounds to improve performance but lessen accuracy causes major graphics glitches and battles to crash instantly.

maybe dumb question but for anyone familiar with emu dev does it seem like there's still headroom for performance improvement in rpcs3 or has most of the low hanging fruit been picked? my super old (2010) computer seems to be achieving halfway decent performance in DeS, but as you can see still has stutter and some frame drops. would be a shame if it just doesn't have the horsepower and won't ever be able to run the game properly.

The exciting thing is archival. Eventually the PS3 won't be found anywhere anymore but with an emulator that's seen a decade or so of solid development and polish, most, if not all games will be able to be archived for future generations with better performance than the actual hardware which may be hard to find eventually. Especially since the PS3 isn't a classic like the SNES. The next exciting thing would probably be for people who never owned one getting to play games they missed now at no extra cost.

Down the line we'll probably see improvements to games when things are far more stable. Right now the devs are just trying to get the more popular games into a stable state, but once development starts branching out from there you're likely to see extra improvements like on Dolphin where you're more than likely to get AA and other fun stuff. But that's at least 2-3 years away I'd say. This shit takes a long time since there's so much work that needs to be done.

I've been checking on nier every time a new build drops and i'll be very surprised if it isn't at least technically playable within a few months. Not that long ago it was a broken mess and right now it runs reasonably well with some minor hiccups in some areas. have yet to get to a point in the game that couldn't be passed with some patience or option fiddling.

though the improvements could largely be just coincidence. they seem to have gone hand in hand with DeS/P5 improvements.

Does anyone else have constant crashes in DeS with Vulkan? It works fairly well but crashes maybe every 20 minutes. OpenGL is too slow.
