Literally 100% chance Akechi is in the game. He's a fan favorite and a main character, no way in hell they'd leave him out. That means they either find a contrived way to revive him, which I doubt, or set the game before his death. You could see Kamoshida's palace in the trailer too, so the game is probably set during the story.
