did you know their new project called Project Sansar came out in open beta today? i tried it and its pretty shit, fun in VR though.

I played SL for 1 day about ten years ago. They talked about it in a mass comm class in college, so I checked it out at home. It was an amazing experience.

I made a character and went to places at random, found myself on a gor role play island. Some dude explained how enslavement worked, took me as a slave, and gave me a bunch of free shit. Naturally I immediately took the shit and left, found myself at a tower giving away equips and scripts. Next thing I know I have a bunch of wings and weird guns, even a spirit bomb, so I go explore more.

You know what was cool about wings? They let you fly. And did you know they could be equipped to all body parts? So I'm at a furry island next, there's like 30 people here. I start launching spirit bombs, and the script causes an aoe push that blows shit away real hard. They tell me to stop so I equip a dozen wings all over my arms and legs, dude I'm flying so fast and raining bombs down from above, and the admin couldn't target me to ban me.

When he finally shot me down I landed on a horror themed rp island, called asylum I think, and scripts are disabled. Shit looks like silent hill. While wandering the streets a trio of goths come and start role playing at me, then lock me under an abandoned hospital. It was almost dawn so I shut it off and haven't played since.

And back then most people targeted because Phoenix wasn't as common and the admin menu was hidden under a fuckton of clutter in the LL client.

Not only was there flight rings/boosters which let you fly higher/faster than without, but there were also attatchments which let you fly without having flight perms by basically pushing your av upwards.

Also, as far as admins needing to target, not everyone knows how to use the options they have access to. Including bans and ejections. One of the ways you can however is to right click a target and select eject.

One thing in particular that points out that the guy wasn't bullshitting however was the Asylum sim he mentioned. I remember the exact same one. Place was awesome, shame it went away.

People tend to treat guy avs poorly, cause most people using them tend to be creeps or going places where they're unwanted.

It doesn't help that most male avs tend to either look like a jersey shore reject or a shitty noob who never tried to make an av past what they started with.

That said, female avs are far more supported in terms of clothing in general, which is prolly one of the better reasons to make one.

Its been quite some time, but when I was there not many people were visiting and I wasn't super big into RPing at the time. I just remember it had a super neat build with lots of little secrets and things you could find.

The biggest thing I remember however is how the place went down. One of the creators basically returned half the sim cause they wanted to wash their hands of it for some reason which basically killed it.

Every time there's an SL thread and people complain about it being dead and having nothing to do I always tell them the same thing. You need to really immerse yourself in the autism. There's a lot of different things to do in SL, and when these people find these communities, instead of joining in on the autism, they just toss floating dicks in their air, get banned and then wonder why there's nothing to do in SL.

For example, there's a bunch of different pro wrestling communities in SL. They have their own sim with a large intricate arena, they put on shows weekly. They have a fully scripted playable football league that's incredibly competitive. And by competitive I mean people who git gud in the game can end up completely destroying and demoralizing another team 80-0. They still exist, though you kinda got to know where to look to find them unfortunately. I'd highly recommend visiting SL during october though. Most years you get events and games going on. From haunted houses to more in depth stuff. Sn@tch in particular does an event every year with some kind of horror themed story that tends to be kinda neat, and MadPeas tends to put forth these long involved mysteries/hunts that you need to buy into all year long.

Overall theres still a lot to see, but less you're to likely bump into as odd as it sounds.

I'm terrible at stories unfortunately due to a particularly shitty memory. Most of them were kinda cliche story wise and nothing entirely special event wise either, but they're fun little things to take part in. Some can be even particularly funny with how shitty they can be.

Last year MadPea's had a free little halloween event which ended in a rollercoaster.. And for some reason there was a clown waving a chainsaw around. It was more cheesey than pretty much anythin else, but it got a giggle out of me.
