Am I, as a long time Metroid fan, not allowed to air the grievances I have with what we've been shown? The infrequency that Nintendo releases Metroid games means I shouldn't have to be picky about what they release since the interval between releases is far greater than Mario or Zelda.

Cinematic takedowns and designing a game around an upgrade that reveals all secrets on top of having MercurySteam sends off a bunch of red flags. Metroid has always been about shooting things and exploration, so far it seems that they are streamlining these two features out in lieu of cinematic trash that has no place in a Metroid game.

Melee drastically changes how fights are paced, which is what I feel differentiates castlevania games from metroid games. Metroid's always been about that amazing arsenal you build up and planning out your encounters before enemies can get close enough to really kill you. Difficult enemies later in the game are fun because despite the fact that your weapon goes through walls, enemies, and covers a fuckton of space, a fight can still be hard.

Adding a melee counter makes all of that moot, you can just wait for something to walk up to you and get a stun/counter for very little risk. It just doesn't seem as rewarding.

Here is my 2 cents

The 3D models look horrible and the game looks like it belongs on the N64.

Adding teleport rooms was a mistake and encourages laziness, I like how the old games made you feel like all you had was your two feet and a gun.

The melee feature should have been a quick dodge feature instead. the game is a shooter not a dam brawler.

The game literally has tutorial text windows that pop up. WTF
The first 3 games did not insult the players intelligence like that. The game integrated the lessons into the game by using the environment, like when you had to learn the wall jump.

This "remake" marks the death of a franchise and the pussyfication of game play.

Have you not played Metroid II? It's a very segmented and linear map, teleporters are fine. AM2R had them as well.

If they had teleporters in say Zero Mission then yes that would be unacceptable but Metroid II is a very different game.
