I'd call it relaxing if it had more than twice as much time per day. As it is you only have enough time to do your daily farming and then see maybe 4 people in town, forage for a single screen, and go maybe 10 levels in the mine. And you can go fuck yourself when it comes to getting deeper in the Skull Cavern. I feel like the dev just made the days shorter to pad the game.

How do people think these games are comfy? Unless you purposely just don't do anything in the game, they get overwhelming as fuck because eventually you just end up with so much work to do.

In Stardew Valley you're constantly harvesting and replanting stuff and throwing what you can into things to convert it into better produce. You're also making sure your animals are looked after and well fed (managing grass is a pain) and collecting anything they produce. That doesn't even count going into the town or cave to do stuff.

In Slime Rancher because the inventory size is so small you either have to grind out the ass to make some portable shops to stick in every area, or you're walking back and forwards so much just collecting and selling plorts that you've got no time to do anything else.

I mean you could just not do these things, but then what? If you don't you're not really playing the game, you just have it open.

I really never had any stressful moments in Stardew, maybe on my first run in the first year or so, but nothing really felt stressful to keep things going. I got to the point in Stardew that so much is handled automatically, or some things I just decided to drop, and instead focus on a separate area. Slime rancher is a great game but after wrangling some slimes and upgrading your stuff it becomes just feeding slimes, looting, farming, and that's really it. Definitely worth 14 dollars though but it has no replayability. I think I got 30ish hours out of it during beta

Entirely different games and different types of comfy. Factorio has a steep learning curve before you can really enjoy it but I put in almost 400 hours before I burnt out while I just beat stardew and called it a day. Factorio has an amazing and huge mod scene that has a shit ton of overhaul mods and mods in general and they keep getting lots of update by the devs.

So if you like comfy and taking things easy with some rp then stardew. If you like autisming and building huge fucking bases and building cool shit if you're creative enough, like a smooth logistics network, then factorio.

Standard Farm is overall the best.
The Riverland Farm is hard mode
The Forest Farm makes getting hardwood a cinch and you don't lose that much space because you can still place objects on the grassy areas.
The Hill-top Farm mine is pointless, you get like 1 iridium ore a year at level 10 mining. Only good part is the super efficient crab pot layout.
The Wilderness Farm has a slightly worse layout than the basic farm but the enemy spawns are just annoying and not worth the trouble.

If you are playing in peaceful mode, there is almost no pressure at all. (Except maybe the possibility of running out of fuel) All the time in the world to figure out what to do.
And there are not that many things to learn. Apart from special cases like boiler and steam machine setups, it is all just understanding what the input and output of every given process is and making sure it all connects correctly.

Without any mods it is quite easy to start going, and there are no mystical secrets unfathomable by the average person.


Even if you mod it up to 11, the basic mechanics stay the same, just the complexity of product lines and the number of different items increases, really. Basic input/output still applies.

The big mod scene and constant and transparent work done by the developers is a big plus.

My current savegame is cockblocked, because a modder removed a special kind of long-armed inserter from his files. Now my factorio is missing 564 critical parts, I all need to replace by hand. So I am waiting on 0.16. for now.
