Looking to replace my cheap Ikea chair. What are the best ones?
What's a good computer chair that cannot physically explode into my ass? Every time I sit down I have this in the back of my mind after seeing that pic. You know the one.

the fake one?

Yeah I never really thought about it until seeing the pic.
I feel like I should put down a lot of money and invest in a good chair but some people say those gaming chairs like Dx racer or whatever are just a meme.
>>386080541
Well not the Aeron. It's cramped and completely overhyped.
>>386082117
What do you recommend?
>>386082393
Topstar is a good brand. I initially bought one almost randomly, some years later I thought about replacing it. I tested an Aeron and one of those god-awful racing-seat-Twitch-streamer-chair. I got a refund for both and kept the Topstar.

>tfw sitting in a chair just like this and I weigh a lot
>>386082756
Lose weight, fatty.
>>386082647
Just looked it up and it seems like it's exclusive to Europe. I'd like to try them in store before buying since I'll be spending a lot.
>tfw Steelcase Gesture master race
Tried both this, the Aeron, and the Embody. This was best. Only thing that came close was the Leap, but I caught a deal on this that was too good to pass up.

It might be, yeah. Trying is definitely a must. See if you can find a big furniture store where you can spend an afternoon sitting on things. Price doesn't always correlate with comfort. I'd always recommend a mesh back, seat too if possible. No leather. And no bucket seat.
>>386080662
As long as you live in a first world country that has some safety regulations on consumer goods you should be ok.
>>386083556
That chair looks sexy but it's over a grand holy shit.
>>386083896
Thanks. I see the value of mesh back more now especially after sitting on leather most of my life and getting lower back problems.
>>386083556
This anon knows what's up, one of the best chairs. Definitely worth the money.
So are those dx racer chairs bad?
>>386084860
If you like being unable to move freely and sweat because there's no breathable material, they're great! Also the Maxnomic I had was painful to sit on, you could feel the bars under the seat. I sent them an email about that, they sent me a replacement seat which had no bars but a metal plate. I installed it only to realise I could also feel the plate...
>>386084860
Depends if you care about wear within the first year.

I got this chair and it fucking sucked for me, try before buy
Why can't people just get a recliner or a single person couch? You can't get more comfy than that. And it's gotta be cheaper than these 400USD+ office chairs. Hell you could get a massage chair for the cost of many of these.
>>386080541
if your chair has a piece of metal between the hydraulic pump and your ass then you are fine

Check Craigslist.
I paid$350for a floor model from a dealer.
>>386086504
This is an OK option, but the cushioning and lumbar support sucks compared to real ergonomic task chairs. Honestly, you could probably do better for the price from one of the Aeron knockoffs from Staples or OfficeDepot.
This thread has made me aware of just how uncomfortable this leather back makes me feel.
I have a dx racer king and I have no complaints except the price
>>386080541
Just go to an office supply/furniture store and sit in different ones until you find one you like. Measure your desk height/etc. and bring a tape measure to the store with you so you can find one that will meet your requirements.
Anyone have experience with this one?Serta Back in Motion Health and Wellness Mid-Back Office Chair
>>386080662
If you're really paranoid about it, just bolt a steel plate between the piston and the seat.
>>386080541
Get yourself a nice steelcase leap.
Fuck all the fancy gamer garbage
Don't buy leather if you have summer where you live, because it will ruin with your fat sweaty ass.

Get it used, $250 and you're set for decades.

Just make sure it's a v2. Check the manufacturing date to make sure it's not super old either.
...but that's a great option. I considered this and there were like five used office furniture dealers in my area and I kind of live in the woods. There's a very good chance you can find one of these in great shape.
pic related is my chair. thank god this thing exists cause normal chairs just don't work for me.
>>386088875
no, the padding on the serta shit compresses within a year
its like sitting on wood
IKEA Marcus owner here, this chair has served me well since 2011, but I have
some money laying around and I would like to upgrade in comfort. Any
suggestions? I want to be more comfy while playing gaems
>>386089938
>being this massively overweight
why do the backs lean back so far
do they expect me to lean back 20 degrees when I'm on a computer
>>386089821
Is that real?
>>386090558
>not being this massively overweight
>>386090515
Mostly the stuff mentioned in the thread. Embody, Aaron, Leap, and Gesture are safe bets.
You can find other economic chairs from other brands as well, but they're less common so there's less info about them. I tried this out when I was chair shopping and kind of liked it, but I don't regret getting the Gesture at all.
