I got a different version of the same stick for 50 leafbucks. Pretty good, considering the next cheapest that wasn't complete garbage was $110
Turns out I prefer keyboard anyway though. Worth trying, but I'm glad I didn't overspend.
Eventually I'll build myself a hitbox or if I ever want to go to tournaments or something.

I don't think the keyboard matters that much though, as long as you don't get ghosting issues
The biggest thing for me was realizing I should be treating it like a hitbox instead of like a keyboard, so rebinding up from w to space. It felt weird at first but works way better.

It lets you emulate an analog stick, which is basically only useful for Melee. It has various advantages and disadvantages that I don't really know anything about, but is supposed to be less damaging on your hands than a gamecube controller. It may or may not be legal depending on how tournament rules develop, last I heard about it.

only problem are the diagonals on the stick itself, bottons are okay if you are a first timer. I got guides on modding if you'd like.

Hori Mini is a good starter stick. Pad you could go Saturn, Pokken or Fighting Commander, depends on what kind of dpad you like.

They used to be, by some people.
Basically no one thinks that anymore, since all the japs that have been playing for their whole life on stick still beat everyone else, so if there is an advantage its insignificant.

Some old games also used to not handle simultaneous forward and back inputs properly and let you block while walking forward, but you could also do that with a pad by using the analog and the dpad, and any decent hitbox cleans inputs so it will send neutral or whatever the last button pressed was instead of both left and right.

cheapest you should go is qanba drone or venom arcade stick.
qanba has better parts but is small
venom has worse parts but is standard size/weight stick.
both are fully moddable
