Why is this weapon memed so much? Haven't played PvP, but it's nothing compared to the raw DPS of Saw Cleaver, Hunter's Axe, or Whirligig Saw. Especially when combined with Beast Blood Pellets. Is one of the Chalice Dungeon versions better or what?

First phase, don't run out of stamina, circle him, couple of hits at a time, if your weapon is fast enough, you can try to backstab him when he casts the tentacle spell. If he goes to a corner, back away.

Second phase, he starts casting the million magic missiles spell which can't be interrupted, get away from him during the cast, then spam dodge toward(!) him when he releases the spell. So don't dodge backwards or sideways.

The true master race used the Tonitrus.

I used the hunter axe for my whole playthough. In old hunters I used axe + switched to boom hammer whenever possible because I really liked the way it handled

What doesn't stagger everything? It's slow, slow trick change, not serrated, requires STR and SKL.

Axe has longer reach, has a versatile moveset, more damage per hit, better Rally, needs only STR.
Cleaver's faster, eats less stamina, it's serrated, more DPS, needs only STR.

Whirligig's L2 hold was just the loveliest thing I have ever experienced in a video game.
