I have a feeling something dark happened during development and they lost a bunch of assets or had to roll back to an old build really late.

So much of it just doesn't make any fucking sense. The game looks like a really rushed project. AFAIK the animation process is something like this:

It's a rerelease instead of a patch but the newest version of Kingdom Hearts 1 has much improved gameplay from the original PS2 release just by fixing up the controls and tweaking a few other things.

This game was such a disappointment. I was ready for a few months of waifu shitposting and awful mass effect memes shitting up threads everywhere. Instead I couldn't even care enough to find out who the crew members are and the only memes are about how the game is a fucking dumpster fire.

It's showing that the face texture is the same. This texture is unique to the default face, it isn't available for custom characters.

The context for the image is that it's pointing out that the face on the right was not a product of the custom character editor, and appeared in that person's game because the game loaded the right face texture with the wrong face model. It suggested (possibly correctly) that Bioware had a better face model for Sarah Ryder in the game files but chose not to use it.

This was during the time when the uproar over the game's ugliness and protagonists' ugliness - particularly Sarah Ryder - was still in full swing.

Once you play ME:A you feel how the writers tried to make the Angara likable. They don't hide their feelings, are brave and though fighters, fight for their freedom, have a spiritual side, are extremly intelligent (otherwise they wouldn't have been able to discover spaceflighta again only a few hundred years after the scourge) and even have a higher purpose since they were artificially made. But in the end they were the reason I couldn't finish my 3rd playthrough.

You activate "Meridian" only to find out that it was only the control center. Then you plant 3 probes at distant locations in the Helieus cluster and find the real Meridian (the hollow planet you can see in the trailer). With the information you go back to the control center, but the Archon pulls the Reaper move from ME3 and kidnaps the human ark and brings it to Meridian. Ah and you also get disconnected from SAM until your brother/sister reconnects you (you play them for a short pistol-only mission). But before they do you discover that you can influence the Remnant even without SAM's help, but your brain takes damage in return. So you get your SAM back and activate the Remnant ships stationed at the control center to attack the Archon. Blah blah blah space fight were you have a flashback of your dad, which helps you win blah blah blah. Archon and the human ark fly into Meridian and you follow them. Then you get a short vehicle section + ground fight until you reach some sort of main processor. During this phase you see allies fighting for your cause depending your previous choices (basically which missions you did). Oh and the human ark does a crash landing, but nobody gets hurt. Inside the main processor you find the Archon, but it's too late and he connects himself to the main processor through your brother's/sister's help (oh, he kidnapped her/him as well by the way). The boss fight contains several waves of normal Remnant with an Architect in the middle of the battle field and you win once you activated 3 consoles. Then you kill the Archon...no, just kidding, the Remnant technology kills him. Then you leave the main processor, get surrounded by your allies and do a short speech. Afterwards you have a victory party and you need to decide who's going to be the Helieus ambassador (because that's was somehow the next planned point). You can choose Drack's granddaughter, the Salarian pathfinder, the Moshae or the leader of Prodromos.

To anyone unironically considering playing this game, do yourself a favor and at the very least use mods. Seriously this game had a mile-long list of tiny annoyances and mods generally tend to fix a lot of them.

No matter what, someone is going to pissed at you. Now you only have to speak with everyone in your crew (or not; who cares at this point?) and leave to continue your adventure as pathfinder.
Also since the human ark is now on/in Meridian, it's now the new "homeplanet" for the Humans and you get a hint on the Quarian Ark DLC during the party, but I guess that's not really relevant anymore. Puh, almost done. There's also a cliffhanger, where you can see a Kett priest (?) watching the Archon's defeat and leaving the Helieus cluster, but with the expression of revenge on her face.

Don't know how much you played and he isn't as relevant later in the story so it's harder to remember, but here it goes:
He is against you finding the control center (since it's deep into Kett terriotry and heavily guarded), so you and the other pathfinder(s) make up a plan by yourselves. Once you succeed he's not angry and admits his mistake of not trusting your opinion.
He's not really present for rest of the main story until you defeated the Kett and they need to choose an ambassador. He's of course for the Salarian pathfinder. As for his own leaderships: There's no emergency situation anymore, so they will start to build a council. I don't know what he'll do afterwards.
There's no additional effect on the story when it comes to the Krogans and outcasts. Choosing Sloane or the Charlatan will only change who sits on the throne and which random enemies on Kadara stay hostile. Krogans can either re-join the Nexus or stay independent. I never played the 2nd situation, but I doubt it has a lot of consequences. Only thing that changes is Drack's attitude towards you. If you don't rescue the Krogan on board the Salarian ark and also choose the Salarian pathfinder as ambassador for the Heleus cluster, he'll think about leaving your crew. If you aid the Krogans he'll show you the first Krogan born in Andromeda (his great-grandson/daughter).

So, I picked this game up for $30 on sale and was thinking it was an ok game for the price. The animation is still wonky sometimes and there are some truly insufferable characters on my squad and there's too much Open World Crap to do, but still, $30, right?
Then I get to the pirate planet and these people are all assholes. Poison the previous inhabitants, steal from my people, etc. The game expects me to work with them and forge an alliance. What? There are a few hundreds of the Milky Way people trying to make a start in a hostile galaxy and these shitheads are stealing from us and I'm supposed to make nice with them? Since you can mostly choose between Emotional-Logical and Confident-Professional or even all four, I played my characters as Logical/Professional or Emotional/Professional. Unfortunately it soon realized how dialogue doesn't change much depending on your choice. I know that there were also cases in the original trilogy, where NPCs would reply the same no matter what you said, but in ME:A it became too much.

I wouldn't say it's an 10/10 but this game really got a bad rep. It's no Mass Effect 2, but did you really expect that? All things considered it turned out pretty decent aside from wonky animations. The openness of the planets reminded me of ME1 in a very good way. Not perfect by any means and the story left much to be desired but it was by no means awful. A solid 7.5, it's a shame that instead of trying to fix the issues and make a really great sequel they just completely gave up on the greatest series Bioware ever created because people expected better of them.
